First time you get up, you get pillz, second time your downed you die if you did not get an aid kit afterwards.

    I like it.

Still hoping to see a carry-mechanic.

My own preference would be that anyone can carry wounded (picking somebody up and running to a cover relatively nearby should be faster than reviving them on the spot, though), anyone can "stabilize" which prevents them from dying out but still possible to get executed by an enemy or just to respawn somewhere else if they want to (a relatively fast action), and any class can add "medical" gear on their loadout to revive people with, which would, depending on the class, take a certain amount of space and a certain amount of time to unlock (an apothecary would have the most space for it and can always have it right from the start, an assault marine needs to unlock it somehow and uses up room for grenades/ammo to have it, etc.)

A little bit more complicated, but the current system seems nice too. Especially that you can poison your teammates <3

Ya know I would actually really like to see that too ^ a drag mechanic or carry to get people in the downed state out of the field of fire before you attempt a rez. Don't think I've seen that one in a game yet.

It comes with my appreciation for risk vs reward. You can risk going into gunfire drag your buddy out of the gunfire and if you don't get ventilated by enemy rounds your reward is getting your buddy back up. I mean sure you could always try to rez out in gunfire too, but those drive by ressurections are so lame lol.

They are also no where near as cinematic/entertaining as watching a Battle-Brother desperatly drag his downed brother to safety...and what are games if not entertaining.

As nice as it is, I don't think that mechanic works well in any Multiplayer shooter to be honest. That's more fitting for singleplayer tactical shooter.

That wouldn't be very lore friendly. SM/CSM combat doctrine is not to have its wounded guys get treatment immediately. There is only one unit or position tasked with patching up SM, and that's the Apothecary. Normal SM don't even bother with it, as their suits also provide first aid if necessary or regulate their systems long enough for an Apothecary to show up and patch him.
The dragging is possible, but SM don't stop fighting to carry their brothers into cover in the middle of the fight.

  6. Can you imagine how much whinging there would be if they showed off the Space Wolf or Blood Angel with a generic apothecary? nerdrage city. Or if they had used Ultramarines, who the community (WH40K in general) can't decide if they are the poster boys or the whipping boys of the game. Dark Angels are the one group where you can play with a base standard apothecary without having to deal with the 'Ughhh Ultramarines, why do Ultramarines get all the spotlight' or the 'BLOOD ANGELS HAVE SANGUINARY PRIESTS NOT APOTHECARIES HERMURGURD NURDBURMB!.

Well...the Space Wolf/Blood Angel default apothecary re-skin fiasco was averted long time ago...and the Wolf Priest as a basic class one also...that's probably the reason they still are on the drawing boards with that 4th basic Space Wolves class...so yes those heretics, ehm, brothers, the DA's, was probably the most reasonable choice to build mechanics around...;)
  8. But all Apothecaries, Sanguinary Priests, and Wolf Priests aren't just designated, they go through training to earn the title and abilities.
They all start out as Battle Brothers with a little training and a basic medical kit. They work their way up to being the guy with all the Apothecary gear and training to use it.

So why not make their Wargear class-specific unlockables?

As for the Wolf Priest, I have a question.
Do they train as either Apothecary or Chaplain first then train as the other, train as both at the same time, or choose how to train?

If they train as one then the other, then you can have Apothecary only SW's.
Might be one way to explain them.
  9. I would say they don't train as Apothecaries or Chaplains, they train as Wolf Priests. we talk about Wolf Priests having the shared role of the Apothecary and the Chaplain so we can understand in general terms where they fit into the WH40K world and can explain whatever abilities they appear to have. There is no such thing as a Space Wolf Apothecary or a Space Wolf Chaplain, because they have Wolf Priests who fulfil those roles. Is there some cross over in the types of training one might do, absolutely, but it wouldn't be compartmentalised so specifically.

To Shonedar, it is always important to remind people about that, as each new wave of forum dwellers comes in, old holes will need to be replugged. Everytime I see an external article about this game and look at the comments there are still people going 'I hope they bring eldar into this one'. I know its my own fault for looking but i just cant help it

That's the thing...Wolf Priests are chosen from amongst the wolf guard and long fangs...they ARE veterans well before even starting their training as Wolf Priests...and there's also the fact that Wolf Priests are not military medic equivalents, or military chaplain equivalent...they are like shamans, more in line with the Norse overall theme of the Space Wolves...so as CptRedBeard pointed out, they train to both, because that's what a shaman does...

EDIT: Mostly chosen from wolf guard and long fangs, not only from those ranks...
