This. I was tying out a very long winded this. Also, Suppression. Even if their using the Sunrifle, it still helps.

Theory vs pugs makes this not quite true. The same reason people inaccurately say ELDAR OP is the same reason we have to over commit on LSM. 3-4 pugs = 1-2 experienced players. We have a higher concentration of pugs. Tis life, we deal.

The point here i believe, Correct me if I'm wrong @Rheeva Is that that 3-4 Eldar group you take off a point by one guy being in a rhino. That's four bodies that could be doing other things like Warlock buffing, getting into position as a DR or getting in to a decent ambush position as a Scorpion. Those are roles that the Eldar team are going to feel missing when the fight happens. Are the SM team going to notice one guy missing? Probably not.

One of the two things i do when not playing in a group with clanmates is either AV, or being the driver. The Drivers are the unsung heroes on the map. Sure, they may not top the leaderboard, they may not get kills but. Your enabling your teammates to get those kills, to cap those points. This is very obvious on a map like say Blackbolt. You loose your transports too soon and you've lost the game, more or less.

About drivers and such, it goes deeper actually. Often, it's the vets that know of the need to keep the transports driving. That means, it's usually a vet that takes the job which means he can't participate in the assault and his abilities are missed on point. Flip side of it all is that if a newcomer does the driving job (which they could, you need nothing special do it), they hamper their experience gain which is considerably counterproductive on getting that newcomer decked out with the tools he needs to become fully efficient.

If no-one keeps it driving, you likely lose it. It's a damned in every way you cut it. Driving needs more experience reward at the very least (it's still boring but hey) so it at least becomes a tenable activity for low ranks.

Its even more than that. Defending a point usually is easier than attacking. So the defenders need less people than the attackers. Unless the attacking team is very coordinated of course, but then again a coordinated defending team would balance that out again.

At the end of the day it just comes down to the balance of the teams. Its really hard to balance the game when you can have matches with extremely unbalanced teams, doenst matter what factions they are.

I really enjoyed a game lsm vs. eldar I was in 2 weeks or so ago. Pug LSM vs a eldar stack with some very high skilled player (only remember colin by name but there were some other known players in there). It was either zedek or maggon. The eldar stack didnt even spawn a single AV class (as far as I could tell). At least my squads rhino was parked outside of A for the entire match. So even with no AV at all we didnt even scratch A. Not because eldar are OP but because those players were just so much better.

I still really enjoyed that match and respected that stack because at least they gave us a fighting chance instead of farming our rhinos and us at spawn.
