Thats fair, although there are alot of parallels to any online team based game. Stuck with a crap team is stuck with a crap team. Speaking with enemies is usually the same form of chat Also the premise isnt comparing LoL to EC but rather if EC is taking queues from LoL and making this policy change disabling all chat. I would imagine alot of developers attend these GDC talks and pick up some practices they start to implement.
Yeah I dunno how I feel about the Tribunal stuff, crowdsourcing moderation is just asking for trolling on a different level. Any large enough group can basically create death sentences for players with bans, reports, etc.
It worked this way, whichever side had the most votes was the approved action and rewarded all the people voting on it. No one wanted to read an entire game chat log so they voted punish, which got rewarded since if everyone voted like that everyone got free stuff.
Yeah that is not a good system when it comes to the unwashed masses lol. Hopefully, if EC is taking a page from the LoL playbook they stop at disabling all chat (but giving us toggle at least) and not implementing tribunals.
The day they do implement a tribunal is the day I lose all hope in the games future, I'll go back to my dota allchat happily knowing I made the right call even if the reply is a "cyka".
Wia here basically has nothing to add to the discussion after his time in the megathread. Last I checked: he believes everyone who disagrees with him is a "whiny millennial" who can't handle any toxic behavior whatsoever; he seems to believe this is a "he who trades liberty for security deserves neither" situation, when it's more likely a "this is why we can't have nice things" situation. And on an unrelated note he has a Warframe profile picture despite loathing the game, for some weird reason
Wow, when you speak for me, who even needs to talk to the other side? You can just project everything you want them to say without needing them to actually say it! Much less messy.
I don't think player chat in LoL should be used as a comparison for anything, ever. Even in your own team, people seem to just spend all of their time insulting each other.
