Yeah the Ultramarines are pretty dumb for allying with the Tau, but the Tau and Eldar are somewhat more reasonable than say Orks, Tyranids or Necrons so temporary alliances meant to further your goals can be made. Heck, it has always been the case even with the Emperor that a love-hate relationship exists with the Eldar and Humanity. The Necrons have Trayzon the Infinite who relic hunts and has some pretty rare things like a Thunder Warrior (sorry a Primarch is highly unlikely) that establishes him being active before the Great Crusade which means you can fight Necrons in Warhammer 30k. He even has the head of Sebastian Thor! I think that this blows out of the water any relics, even if they are from the Custodes. Naturally, they are called the Blood Ravens. What is another name for Raven? Magpie. What are Magpies know for? Stealing, hording, collecting. They can have a whole ton of cool stuff 'gifted to them', either they are replicas that other chapters scoff at or they can be the real things. Like a great many things that makes 40k great... You decide!
I hate to be that guy but actually hoard is a reference for items like supplies where as horde is a reference for a group of beings. As such the phrase "zombie hoard" is incorrect. Cannon vs. canon is correct however. I wanted to double for check myself for comprehension sake. For those wondering about my source I use dictionary.com for quick reference. Too lazy to walk the 8 feet to check my regrettable collection of dictionaries. ^^;
you know they where made that way so that Relic wouldn't have to take the shit from fans that would yell about that they are so god damn un official. Cause If you play dawn of war 2 it seems as the blood ravens had a patriarc so maybe relic meant that they where a lost first founding? So if they came up with a random Patriarc, the fans would litterally burn down their headquarters and I am not even joking.
That was my point. Often, when people write about zombie hordes, they write zombie hoards instead. I imagine zombies hoarded in one place in a pile and laugh a little inside while I shed a single tear. Same deal with cannon/ canon. At least that mistake should be less common, as everyone should know the word cannon, yet it is still so widely misused. Not a native speaker either
People make mistakes all the time. Canon is not a word that is used very often in the English language (at least I don't end up using it very much.). As a result, it's a pretty common misspelling. (As evident in my post.) It's not a matter of not knowing the difference, as I very much do know the difference. It's just simply something that gets overlooked as you're typing/writing, since English is filled with homonyms. It's ones like their, there, and they're that you should be shedding tears for. Those are some of the most taught and misused ones, even by native speakers. Canonical on the other hand, is not something I've seen used extensively (barring discussions about lore), as people use the word 'official' for most other situations. Ravens are not magpies. That's like saying a gorilla is a chimpanzee. Ravens and magpies are both crows, but they are not interchangeable. Since we're getting into symbolism, a raven is a crow that feasts on carrion (dead things). If you are a blood raven, you feast upon the blood of the dead. Now, as I've said already. If you can present a piece of canon that states Blood Ravens have stolen Relics from the Imperium and other Chapters, then I will retract my statements. The Blood Ravens "acquiring" relics from others is a meme that started on /tg/ and has spread through the community. Now anyone that doesn't actually read lore turn to the forums and hate all over blood raven threads because "muh relics".
Here is their Index Astartes entry: http://web.archive.org/web/20070209...tartes/assets/index-astartes-blood-ravens.pdf "The Blood Ravens are often known to seek out sites of lost artefacts and ancient significance to deny what they hold to the Enemy. To achieve this, they rely heavily on their Librarians both to keep the secret archives in order and compile new records, as well as lead the continuing search for fresh information to bolster their precious archives. It is not uncommon for groups of Librarians to be dispatched with an army of servitors and a number of squads of Space Marines to uncover a lost artefact whose location has been recentyl unearthed or revealed through ritual divination. This has brought the Blood Ravens into direct conflict with the Inquisition on several occasion, as many of the items they seek are touched by the Ruinous Powers. The Blood Ravens insist that it is their duty to hunt out and oppose the forces of Chaos wherever they may be and that by recovering and destroying the tools of Chaos they deny the Enemy their use. However, the Blood Ravens have been less than forthcoming regarding any proof the the destruction of any of the hundreds of artefacts they are said to have procured. Such actions do nothing to allay their critics."
fun fact of all chaos marines dont have to deal with things like that they only kill and do war. Loyalist space marines instead have more stress to deal with like. hiding secrets, saving humanity and killing xenos
I got into Warhammer 40k through the first DoW game and i realy love the Blood Ravens but all that relic stealing in DoW2 i realy dont like but i write that of as lazy game designers not bothering to make up stuff themselves. that they have 1 or 2 relics they got as gifts for helping other chapters i can agree with but all the stuff they get in DoW2 is silly but everything else i realy like about them.. well most of it anyway so i would love to see them in eternal crusade.
