i'd like a space marine 2 with FREE DLC, in the first space marine you buy the game 50€ and you have to invest 40€ more for all the dlc !!!
Problem with that idea is it costs money to depvelop DLC so why should it be free? So i cannot see how that would ever be an actuality, and expecting it only sets you up for disapointment. Also you didnt HAVE to buy the DLC you chose to. The something for nothing attitude is one of the biggest problems with the gaming community, and indeed a lot of other things out there.
look at GW2 for example, they give add-on and DLC but it's free because people buy the game ... In my opinion you sell a game and you improve it for keep fans on your game, but you don't sell a game and say ''no no you have to buy again for the entire game '' i think it's obvious...
I can see your point of view on this subject. I do agree that you shouldn't spend more than what you paid for on the game itself when it comes to DLC. Hopefully, someone will have the idea of releasing DLC as a demo before people buy it. This way they don't risk anyone getting angered with their product and hopefully encourages people too buy after the trial?

In Eternal Crusade, people can ''buy'' weapons at a shop against real money, like in PS2 butthis weapons are less strong than weapons find in ''dungeon'' for example, but this shop give money to dev, but if you have many player i think many people will buy weapons, but for attract people you need to improve your game => free DLC So people can have all DLC and all guns without pay anything excepts the game itself, but people who are lazy will pay for guns and skins... This system has proven itself, GW2, Spiral Knight, PS2... I prefer play 2 years and pay nothing than play 5month and pay 30€ more.... Sorry to not answer you directly Great Wolf
DLC in a lot of games, just open steam an see the majority, are just low inversions high reward. A bunch of simple DLC cost more than the 2 or 3 years of developemnt of a game, for me they are not worth it except on sale. Some exceptions like fallout, elder scrolls, borderlands, Civs.. but being real and comparing retail expansion against DLC, even the best DLC lack content compared to the old game of the same type like Morrowind and Oblivion expansions vs Skyrim DLC , Civ IV expansions vs new Civ V DLC, Total War old expansions vs new DLC, Battelfield old expansions vs new DLC and premium things. And DLC Pack cost the same or more.
