Sgt. Alton returned the salute and surveyed the remaining guardsmen. He did not know the rest as he knew Trooper Felix. " Ok Trooper. Organize the rest of the volunteers to head that way then you have my blessing to pursue. Report back to me when your ready and when your done."

  2. 'Colonel' Pfiffer's head rang on with strong tinnitus beep, however it seemed subside away as Pfiffers vision went back to normal. With sore muscles Pfiffer rose to his feet, thumbed and powered down the power backpack.
'Uhh, I'm getting too old for this...' Pfiffer thought, at the same time pulling out a metal encased flask with strong alcoholic liquor, taking a quick shot Pfiffer felt his humanity come back and his control of bladder were normal as per usual. Stappling and calling on the other veterans but none answered him, they all were dead or gone missing during battle. 'Colonel' Pfiffer were alone now he realized.

So Pfiffer started to walk to that Skitarius commander with slow and tired steps and taking more drinks

  3. Lesser Guardsmen may have boasted over such an achievement. But Sebastev knew better. The Imperium is always watching, he knew someone saw his service to the Emperor.

Reloading his power pack and reciting a litany, he regrouped with the platoon command and awaited orders.

When the battle died down due to the execution of the Eldar witch, Saven dusted herself down from the dust cloud that had been caused by the object that had flown over the battlefield. Not wishing to stand around idly, she snapped up the Flamer that had caught her attention during the battle then walked over to the platoon command and waiting for more orders to be dispatched by those higher up the chain of command.

While waiting for the orders, Saven looked around for what might have been left of her squad, but saw that they were all dead or missing. That held no surprise for her, given that they were newbies that were prime cannon fodder material while she considered herself to be considerably more talented than the simple fodder most Guardsmen were.

Felix nodded,as he broke throught the gathering Guardsmen, several of them volunteering for the pursuit.Several of the unwillingly so,still fresh from battle and its horrors, but stern looks from the Regimental Commissars gave them what courage they needed.

"Alright boys and girls, form up.Sergeant wants volunteers to pursue these buggers before they escape.Come on lads...some me hands!"

Nodding he went back, reporting back to the Sergeant:

"Two squads volunteer, sir!Shall we form up for a pursuit sir?The rest are either still regrouping, dead or dying."spoke curtly Felix, this time without salute.Night fell on the battlefield and with it,temparature also.Hot air escaped his lips,as he breathed.

(Can't allow any of you to go after the Eldar, their purpose in this story is done and splitting the group could prove detrimental to the RP)

The Commissar snarled at Alton's suggestion and moved to raise his bolt pistol but his action was quickly intervened by the reaction of the platoon commander who pushed the weapon down again with one hand, looking towards where the object had fallen he squinted his eyes to try and get a good look on what exactly it was. The view was still hazy as the dust was still hovering in the air it was impossible to determine the nature of the object itself only that it was beyond the trees at the far end of the open area opposite to where the platoon had first begun its advance. signalling for all the guardsmen that had volunteered to band together into one group he barked an order.

'Guardsmen, all men that have volunteered reconnoiter the crash site report your findings to regimental command, the remainder of the platoon are to pursue the remaining Eldar. Commissar Vincent accompany the recon team as they do their duty make sure the survey is carried out to satisfaction'

Five other guardsmen also joined the squad and under the Commissar's watchful eye the group left the area of the immediate battle and started heading towards the crash site, on their way they started approaching the New Byzantine lines at the far end of the open field from where they initially started. The guardsmen within were at first suspicious of the squads appearance but the sight of the commissar alone was enough to quell any doubts the Line infantry might have had and they let the group past the defensive lines and into the forest beyond. The trenches although difficult to negotiate as a group were of little obstruction thanks to the cooperation of the 233rd guardsmen within.

The forest was dark and damp the leaves from the fallen trees lined the forest floor like an orange carpet of moist leaves, the dust cloud still continued to make visibility a nightmare and the squad could barely see beyond a single one of the trees. The commissar marched onward barely concerned by his surroundings watching as the squad trailed behind him he barked an order.

'Watch your surroundings for Xenos stragglers we can waste no time for inconsequential battles, our objective is reaching the crash site'

A eerie sound was echoing throughout the forest, something almost mechanical in nature was seemingly moving just up ahead the heavy steps of multiple unknown entities moving away from the squad, the group every now and then could hear a low distant moan from an unknown source. The Commissar hearing this kept his bolt pistol at the ready staring intently at the darkness up ahead watching for any sudden movement he proceeded deeper into the gloom of the forest seeking to catch up with whatever was making the sound.

Sgt Alton caught the commissar's movement. He growled a little at the fact the coward of the commisar was so afraid of losing authority that he wanted to excute ncos for doing their job, But he knew his duty. "Sorry Felix looks like LT wants you sticking with the recon detail. " Pitching his voice so the rest can hear. " Alright Troopers recon detail, I want a rear guard and flanks cover. Move fast and light and you heard the Commissar no engagements we can advoid." when they heard the mechanical noises that wasnt blessed by the machine god he ready his weapon. " By Ommnissiah"

  8. Walking with the recon Pfiffer scarcely paid mind the other unknown guys at all.. chewing on downjack chem simulants to ease his soul after the mad clash and the massacre of the trench charge. Pfiffer thought of every member of the veterans that he had befriended just briefly before being assigned to 19th Valerian. Pfiffer would miss sarge Athakin, pfc Jan... strange thoughts clouded Pfiffers brain, Athakins remains would rot away on Artemis fields. His family will probably never hear of his whereabout nor see him for the last time.

'Colonel' Pfiffer spat out obnoxious brown phlegm, as they began to walk in the cool and dark forest. Long stripy naked branches made rasping sound as the branches touched Pfiffers power backpack.

'Watch your surroundings for Xenos stragglers we can waste no time for inconsequential battles, our objective is reaching the crash site' The commissar barked. Shortly after the strange sounds were reaching Pfiffers ear and he went stiff, preparing for what it could be...

    OOC:Figured as much mate,thats why I stalled :p
(Sorry Tech-Captain,it does not pay off to piss off a GM :# )

Seeing the Regimental Commissar fell into the more "jittery" sort,he would probably not tolerate a smartass that Felix knows to be when he opens up his gubbin after a flask of Valerian amasec...or five,so he replied, sharing a worring glance with Sergeant:
    "Very well sir."

As they navigated the trenches,Felix couldn't hope but notice the tragic sideglances they have been reciving from New Byzantine folk.A dozen guardsmen being led by a Regimental Commissar into the woods?A noodle climbed up Felix`s throat:
This seems like a fokin` deathrow....not that there is one in the Guard. Not for regulars anyway.

As they navigated the irritating foliage that kept getting in the way,Felix took a shot or two from his flask that he kept hidden under his flak vest. After that battle...anything is good to calm the nerves, especially with a Commissar around that almost got his Sergeant executed. He never liked Commissar`s,sure they kept the discipline, but so does a capable officer. In his almost thirty years of service,he never caught an ire of a Commissar...he even befriended one a long time ago.Too bad he had to dump his corpse in a river after few of the lads worked their way with him.A fate of most Commissars when they get too...twitcy.At least in 19th Valerian.Regiment has been tossed in the meat grinder for so long, that none bothers to look what comes out of it.

When Saven was thrown in with the lot going to investigate what had come crashing down to this world, a quick once-over of all the Guardsmen gave her the impression that the group was made up of veterans which was mildly reassuring, compared to being shoved in with a group of rookies who she expected to wind up dead in minutes. This is why she kept herself detached from those she thought were likely to die, as it was merely a way of hers to cope with the average's Guardsmen very short life expectancy.

When the Commissar pointed out the obvious, Saven quietly sighed before carrying on with the group, seeing that some of the troops she was with needed a shot of liquid courage to get them through this..... Personally, she never touched the stuff, as it just messed up her body too much. Not that she hung around with the 'normal' troops anyway...
