Zita Nodded and grabbed her smoke grenade off her belt using it she turned and threw it where it would help the squad get out of fire from the necrons and that the spoke would shield them from the metal skeletons vision and help them make a break for the roads. "Smoke OUT" She said before moving and firing into with the squad.
Falling back with the squad, slowing moving out of the range of the enemy fire,Felix took this respite to reload his Lasgun, dropping the massive magazine and attaching a new one, powering his baby up.
@TechCaptain @EvicusDasan1 @Vanestus @Grall_Stonefist @Uriel1339 @Maleth @Illfetus @Vulpas @High_Adept_Zeth ~ Under a hail of fire the squad steadily moved its way backwards, the Necron phalanxes were shooting in fusillades firing in almost perfect timing with one another as they advanced forwards, there were numerous occasions where some of the squad might have been hit but were thankfully spared from the cold calculating aim of the Xenos machines. The Necrons had failed to get their Triarch Stalkers back online in time for them to continue the pursuit leaving only the Phalanxes to follow on their own, the machines were only barely able to keep up with the rear guard action as it steadily fell back and eventually the pressure on the squad lessened to the extent where the 19th Valerian could freely maneuver. Eventually the crowd had gotten far enough away from the Necrons that continuing to fight the Xenos machines was now an unnecessary risk, the squad had reached the road to the capital and leaving the burning base and the Necron force far behind them the group moved to catch up with the rest of the crowd. The PDF had managed to keep the crowd of people together but had now dissipated into various small groups each led by officers of various ranks, there didn't appear to be sufficient chain of command in order to keep them together anymore without the commandant thus consequently reducing their discipline It was a long road to the capital and there was a lot of people traveling along this one particular road behind them the very distant sounds of battle between the Imperial guard and the Necrons could still be heard but for the most part the refugees had managed to outpace the invaders at least for the time being. Unbeknownst to the squad the Necrons had reached Oglesby's observatory, breaking into the secure Mechanicus facility they had quickly eliminated a squad of combat servitors that had responded to the presence of the intruders and set about retrieving various artifacts from the tables of the absent Techpriest. In the fight they had knocked over much of the monitoring equipment and destroyed many of the wall mounted control systems lining the walls of the facility, the twitching bodies of both the fallen Necrons and the destroyed combat servitors littered the floor and the entire building was practically ruined in the aftermath of the battle. in the center of the room the glass case that had once housed the tuft of red flora had been broken and the stasis field disabled, the almost innocuous piece of plant life was now lying motionless on the floor. All that the squad knew of this was the behavior of Oglesby who was staring off into the distance, he was shaking as if with rage and he was clenching one of his metallic hands. he turned away after about five minutes of this behavior and moved briskly to keep up with the rest of the squad still not emitting a single word.
Sgt. Alton looked at the situation of the Chain of Command falling apart with disgust. " Squad fan out, talk to the PDF and find out who is the highest ranking survivor that is competent. Saven, you stay next to me we need to talk."
Saven was curious as to why the Cogboy was acting oddly, yet any endeavour to find out would have to wait because Alton had asked for her to talk, and not in the gossiping about the squad manner. So she walked over to him and said to him "Well boss, what do you want to talk about? Is it to do with any complications that my shall we say, heritage will cause? Or something else?"
Sgt. Alton pinched his nose in a irritated manner. " I don't know nor care what your heritage is. What I want to know is if your maverick bravado and insubordination sedition are for the purpose of getting your squad killed again or you are just suicidal?"
"On the contrary, you could have capitalised on those action of mine in order to get your men out of harms way." Saven replied to Alton (@TechCaptain ), offended by the insinuation that she'd get the squad killed or try and commit suicide via Commissar grade heroism. She then said "Simply put, my area of expertise is the type of missions someone would normally expect the Storm Troopers to pull off, which came about due to me being able to survive some pretty hairy scenarios. So you let me carry on as I do now, I'll be able get you some impressive results." Having explained that, the Hybrid then said "And the reason I bought up the issue of heritage..... Simply put, if that spilled out to the priest, the squad would likely end up killing one another over the matter of either me living or dying for what I well.... am."
" Honestly, I don't care. Storm Trooper or not your running around is indangering everyone. Team work works wonders. I am former Skitarii. Your training doesnt mean much in face of accomplishment of the mission. Your insubordination isnt explained by that either. Saven, you cant use parents to explain everything. I need a team not mavericks." Sgt. Alton sounded exasperated.
"Well, the running around as you call it is simply differences in combat style then, considering that you might use tactics more suited to a squad that isn't able to move around rapidly whereas I do, because that's how my Regiment fought before being rolled into the 19th. " A somewhat tired and irate Saven complained. Then she carried on with "As for me being supposedly insubordinate..... Well, firstly you were cowardly and stopped because of a single man in a tree, and so you haven't made a brilliant impression there, and secondly I'm used to speaking what's on m mind, sir." She also took off the upper part of her helmet so that Alton could a part of her face and therefore perhaps see why the Guardwoman was hinting about letting anything related to her unfortunate parentage get out of hand was a very bad idea.
"You might want to look up cowardly versus cautious. I was suspicious due to his surviving so well considering. We dont know these Xeno's capabilities. And it could have been a trap. The reason your regiment was rolled up into 19th cause they were decimated and I can see why. Fore thought and planning survive better just not always. " Sgt Alton paused remembering his own Skitarii. " Being quick and first in is fine but do it with some thought. And enough with the insubordinate talk otherwise I will give you over to the Commissar. You have an idea tell me and Ill consider it otherwise you are just ruining morale." Sgt Aton took in Savens appearance with apparent calm. He has seen all sorts of looks in the Skitarii where modifications are the norm.
