I've been designing executions (no idea why) on paper for a while now... I guess so long as we get basic models and a free animation software to use I could give it a try.
I'll just echo all the previous sentiments and say that I'd love to give it a try. Just had a thought would it be possible to take off arms legs and heads of the models? Or show that in some way if it will be possible in the game?
oh my god! THAT would be an awesome contest. letting people animate an execution, and have it be in the game. dawn of war mods would go nuts. For me I would use Unity,Blender or ORGE since i mean...its free. Cuz i doubt hobbyist can afford a maya license. Overall i love the contest idea. Wonder if they would do the same for something like Map design, seen people make some wild environments in past game mods. So my verdict. -If people have a program they are more comfortable working In (Unity,maya, Blender,3d studio max ect) Then let them use it. (it will only require simple exporting to native software Eternal crusade is running) -Otherwise provide people without software a free program, and give us time (lengthen the contest) to stretch our legs in animation. Oh yea and PRIZES!!!
Ahemcoughahem http://store.steampowered.com/app/1840/ View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zri1c_If6Ic @ Its free @ Anyone can use it to make animations @ There are free tutorials on how to use it on youtube. @ Its Source engine, PC's from the 90s can run it Really I just need the devs to make basic models for all the races in the source engine for us to download and use.
No, because i don't have any experience. However, if I could gather the right resources and informations, such as programs, models, pre-made animations and basic tutorials, may be i could try do something... EH EH AH! I'Z GUT ULRREADDY ZUME IDDEAZ'BOUT 'OO TO ZTOMP FER GUD DA HUMIEZ..... >:}
I used to do 3D animation (even got training in 2d animation) before I gained an interest in programming; as much as I'd love to participate in a a competition or whatever, not sure I'd have time to. With that said the previous software I was using for animation was Cinema4D (which isn't free and hard to work with, I don't recommend it). And I agree with Gretchin~lover. The great thing about 3d modelling and animating these days is that pretty much most software is cross compatible now, or has plug ins to be cross compatible. All that it would be required is a little clean-up.
