After reading through the Major Issues With Space Marine Models thread, and more specifically this post. I started wondering how large the most common units of the various factions are. So I started searching in hopes of finding a nice chart that would sum it all up for me. Either my google-fu is weak, or there is no such chart. I did get numerous hits on projects that have started and all the links are dead, or just bits and pieces of the information.

So I figured why not make a little community project out of this, the forums seem to have a large amount of knowledgeable and interested people. I would like to start by focusing on the units we know will be in game, excluding massive units . This is what I have managed to gather so far:

    Space Marines
    Normal Human 6-7 ft (1.8 - 2.1 m)
    Space Marine (no armour) 7 - 8 ft ( 2.1 - 2.4 m)
    Space Marine (in power armour) 8-9 ft (2.4 - 2.8 m)
Space Marine (in Terminator armour) 9-10 ft (2.8 - 3m)
    Primarch 10 - 11 ft (3 - 3.4 m)
    Emperor 11 - 12 (3.4 - 3.7 m)
    Dreadnought 21 - 24 (6.4 - 7.31 m)

    Snotling 1 (0.3m)
    Grot 3.2ft (1 m)
    Ork Boy (hunched) 5.5 - 6 ft (1.6 - 1.8 m)
    Ork Nob (hunched) 7 - 7.6 ft (2.1 - 2.3 m)
    Ork Mega Nob (terminator) 7.6 - 8 ft (2.3 - 2.5 m)
    Ork Warboss (hunched) 8 - 8.6 ft (2.5 - 2.7 m)
    Ork Warboss (mega Armor): 8.6 - 9 ft (2.7 - 2.8 m)
    Ork Warlord (hunched) 9 - 9.6 ft (2.8 - 3 m)
    Ork Warlord (mega armor) 9.6 -10 ft (3 - 3.1 m)

This is a work in progress, suggestions are welcome, I would prefer to focus on units we know have been confirmed for EC!

    10ft Ork, jesus
  4. Orks are actually described as being pretty ****ing huge, but they don't "stand" as tall because they are often hunched over, as OP describes.

Unless this has changed recently, of course. But IIRC, OP is not far off.

Nice list. Love it that the heights are actually converted into metres as well, as that is what most of the world uses.

Everyone knows the metric system is superior, the silly brits, canadians and americans just don't want to accept it :(

Can you translate to metres orkz please. Anything I can help?

I will do it tonight, just not had the chance.

I need help with finding Chaos and Eldar sizes. I could always just assume that the Chaos marines are the same size, but I have no idea about things like the Possessed, or eldar size in general. Assuming most Eldar have the same height?

    Normal eldar- 2m (6,7ft)
    Wraithguard- 3,5m (11,6ft)
    Wraithlord- 6m (19,8ft)
    Avatar- 12m (39,4ft)

I know we focus on factions and units that will be in game but here is some info for tau fans

    Tau Empire:
    Fire caste- 1,7-1,9m (5,7-6,3ft)
    Air/Water caste- 2-2,2m (6,7-7,3ft)
    XV 25 stealthsuit-2,2m (7,3ft)
    XV 8 crisis battlesuit- 3-3,1m (9,1-10,2ft)
    XV 88 Broadside battlesuit- 4-4,1m (13,1-13,5ft)
    XV 104 Riptide battlesuit-5,5m (18,1ft)
    XV 8-05 Enforcer Crisis Battlesuit- 3,7m (12,2ft)
    Kroot- 2,3m (7,7ft)

Every possesed is different. Usually they are same by height with space marines, well, maybe a bit higher.
