Greetings Brothers, the Tyranids being a mayor threat in EC, I would like to share a little insight I have stumbled upon. Some info about the Tyranid Process of assimilating a Planet by the example of a Imperial world. Day 00 Initial mycetic spores are dropped, generally containing Lictors or Genestealers. Infiltration force led by a synapse creature of some kind; reproduction of Tyranid creatures likely begins immediately. Day 09 By day 9, Tyranids will have expanded to around 200 km from the drop point, and will likely present a significant threat to planetary defence and resident Imperial Guard forces. Day 13 Tyranids will have expanded to 700 km from the drop point; may begin infesting local water sources. Day 37 Tyranids control area within 2000 km radius of the drop point; basolithic infestation to 5000 km radius. Day 48 Tyranid population growth skyrockets, with population doubling approximately every 2.5 days. Day 50 Main Hive Fleet arrives, craft generally numbering around 1.5 billion. Psychic contact with planet is cut off by the shadow of the Hive Mind. Any attempts to escape are quickly stopped by the Hive Fleet. Day 51 Primary consumption of bio-mass begins (resistance has generally been eliminated by day 51). Brood ships land, releasing Ripper swarms, which consume all remaining organic material and depositing them at the reclamation pools. Capillary Towers (and the Brood ships) send the material into orbit. Day 80 The hive ships descend into the upper atmosphere and begin collecting it. Reduction in atmospheric pressure causes oceans to boil away, which are also collected. Lack of oceans causes plate tectonic shifts, dramatically increasing volcanic activity. Upon completion, the Hive Fleet move out of the system in search of fresh prey. Day 100 The Imperial Navy arrives in response to the distress call to find the world lifeless. I hope some of you found this informative ,so lets stand against these file creatures! Tell me what you think about this and the Tyranids as a whole, I would love to hear your opinion. Best regards, Crowmanic
I really like that. Maybe it could be a cyclus which starts anew with the start of every Campaign, and the Tyranids slowly consume the Terrain they possess and the Factions have to fight the Tyranids to regain control of the area and undo the changes the Tyranids made over time. (Maybe with a higher Tyranid attack rate as long as the changes are not fully undone, no matter which Faction is winning)
Nobody likes Cleaning... how hard can it be to Tear some biomass from some walls and remove some tentacels from the ground? Gauss flayers can do that with ease
Well I reckon that those nasty guys to some irreversable damage like ABSORBING THE BIOMASS OF THE PLANET maybe^^ But it really depends on the stage ,the Tyranids get halted.
It's a nice idea to include the regular process the hive fleet usually uses when invading a planet, but I think there are a few things that need to be different in EC because of the gameplay ideas. I think that there will be a similar pattern since the Tyranids will increase in strength and numbers in relation to the factions which are going to spread out over the continent, but the Tyranids don't have so much time until they are needed as the balance-thing they are supposed to be. Therefore, we would need them to spread much faster and be at more locations at once. They also won't have the ability to land as they usually do because Space will be where all the Strike Squad cruisers are chilling around and where the orbital bombardment is coming from, so I don't really see an opportunity for them to have their own ships out there, I think it's more like Kraken (I think it was the Kraken Hivefleet) where they have been hiding underground and are now coming back to the surface. They also need to be there from the beginning since they raiding of the so-called Underworld should be accessable right from the start. But since you have a really good point in general, the increasing threat level of Tyranids, I want to say that I'd love to see how the territory they claim for themselves gets "absorbed" over time, maybe leading to bigger armies of tyranids which will make it difficult to regain these lands. Maybe there is an opportunity to get a real tyranid invasion, when orbital strikes are no longer possible because their fleet arrived and masses of them land over time on the planet and you have a month or something like that where you need to focus on not losing against the Tyranids before it goes back to normal again. This could be a huge game changer since during that period of time smaller factions will find themselves in a good position since they only need to defend their smaller territory, giving them a good chance to reclaim the lands of their enemies once the tyranids are gone. Since I haven't had the chance to know how exactly the Tyranids will work on a daily basis this might be obsolete though, maybe that's exactly how they will be in a day to day life, I guess we'll have to see then.
iam sure taht he is useing that wall of text as a cover for raice an army of Cookie consumeing monster hamsters.. or just trying to hide his secret stach of cookies... noone wiil ever know
I sense a great cluster of cookies, but its hidden in the eye of terror,so good luck with retrieving it.
Maybe I am, but we don't want them Eldars to know about it, do we? But you can share your opinion on Tyranid assimilation, since assimilation is more your area of expertise.
