There are several mods so it is not necessarily the same moderator handling every case. As well, there are 18 pages to this thread and I am only responding to a report for one post. If you have an issue again in the future feel free to PM me if you feel something wasent handled to the degree of what you believe it should have been.
I think such powerful characters should be left to DEVs only, or as NPCs. I am one to like the concept of players being "all equal in chances and possibilities", so I don't like that of a few, or a single person "being above the others" by some game mechanic in the sense of farming. I like that we all are the same, and can be the same, and in the end, it all ends up in skill. And If you're great, If you're fearsome, If you are famous, or infamous, is because of your skill. Not because you farmed or spent a billion hours in the game. I would find really frustrating that a more skilled person was beaten by a DP because that DP is by game mechanics "stronger", and on a 1 on 1 is impossible to beat him, virtually. So who wins, the skilled, or the farmer? I say the skilled, and to achieve that, and balanced, do not go crazy and let DP be gotten by players.
Don't think Daemon Princes should be in the game (at the start anyways). Even with good enough ideas on how to implement them and their mechanic, fact is, I think it should be something that is implemented far down the road. Daemon Princes are daemons. They are essentially as close to becoming a Chaos God as you possibly can. That said, they do not like to enter the material universe. They rule over their realm as they see fit, shape reality and are minor Gods within their own right. I mean, if you could shape reality and make up your own realm of living, would you want to leave it? I sure wouldn't. However there are always exceptions. Daemon Princes leave their worlds to fight alongside Greater Daemons. This is how they continue to climb the ranks within the forces of Chaos. Daemon Princes should be something added alongside the Daemon sub-faction. They should not be apart of the main Chaos force. However, I would much prefer there be monumental Daemon Engines for the Chaos Legions instead. A massive, daemon-infused tank would be something I would much love to see over a daemon prince. Having a huge ass warped and daemon-y tank fighting it out with a Titan would be awesome.
I don't think players should be able to control such powerful units. I'd be happy to see units like this handled in a similar way to how Rift handled invasion bosses, in so far as they can appear on the battlefield, but their position is highlighted to players and it's rewarding to help kill it. How it would be summoned, well, I dunno. But it'd need to be rare, or it'd break immersion and lore.
This. I charged a DP with a Black Templar Venerable Dreadnought - crushed the DP in 2 turns and the Dread was barely scratched. Though I do like the idea of upgrading a player temporarily as a Daemon Prince for a campaign.
Just need to reiterate that I don't think anyone is asking for access to Daemon Prince's as a playable character when EC ships. I think even that is too 'unrealistic.' But it would be good if it was something to work towards for Chaos players, who are the most selfish of the lot other than say Orks.
Actually this entire thread was to discuss Daemon Princes in players hands. The first page has them discussing how they would implement it into playable characters.
They could just make it so you only play demon princes in pve so you can go take out a hive tyrant or something
I think you should have read my entire post, I agree that it should be a player goal that can potentially be rewarded, but not when EC ships. Maybe not even in the first couple of years of it's life actually. I'm more than happy to go through the first couple of years gaining epic loot and achievements and carving those loyalists up, or those whose time has passed, or even those pesky greenskins.
