I think being told what you're allowed to spawn as would be significantly less fun. I don't see a problem with player choice. So no, I don't agree with you.
Optional. -optional- game mode. People don't lose their shit when they are hard-capped out of a class in something like tf2 to prevent things like the map running around with 20 sentryguns, yet it's just A OHH FRIGGIN K to have 15 shieldbros and apothacaries over here. Being told which class to deploy with and what weaponry to bring with you would help give the devs better feedback about weapon balance when the balance of things isn't everyone doing their -favorite- thing more or less.
That's fine, each to their own but for me it's annoying when there is nothing to stop my own or the enemy team fielding these weapons in ridiculous quantities. The devs stated that they wanted to make tacticals and bolt guns a popular and common choice. I don't see how they're going to achieve that at this rate. Everyone is just going to keep going for the more powerful builds. There's a good reason these heavy weapons are limited in TT and lore because otherwise that would be all people equipped. Especially a weapon as multi-use as the plasma cannon. But hey, I respect what you're saying about player choice, I would find it frustrating to be told what to play but if they're not going to try it that way I hope they've got some plan to even out the numbers.
Patience. Every map we play, the devs collect statistics. Well, they will, once they get their data mining up. They will certainly be taking a look at who is playing what class, with what weapons. If a whole team is rolling shield bros, that will probably flag to the devs that they need to take a look at why, and perhaps add buffs or nerfs as appropriate. Statistics are magical, and we are the data source for them as the move into balancing. It's painful now facing 10 MoNs rolling around like a pack of monkeys on meth, but seeing that now gives the devs the data to make adjustments later.
This isn't TF2, it's not going to remain a Skirmish game and there's no sentry guns, any class deployed can be countered by another class. Sheildbros don't do well against Plasma and Raptors in my experience. And Apothecaries are just priority targets. An optional game mode that costs resources, doesn't match the MMO part of the game, and would mean even further dilution of the playerbase, though I highly doubt that you'd be able to retain enough players for the campaign system when it arrives regardless. It's just not a system I think they should invest time into. I think that's going to be accomplished primarily through the expanded loadout options and skill trees. What's the best build defends on playstyle and map. Plasma Cannons are pretty deadly on the Fortress, but a good Stalker bolter can pick them off, and if you actually manage to close range as a Raptor then they're in some serious trouble.
For the time being, yeah, it is pretty much TF2, and will remain so until we are even close to this open world pipe-dream you guys are patiently waiting for. This isn't a dilution of the playerbase, we're dealing with a boredom of the playerbase.
I thought we'd finished talking about TTK. Fix mechanics and systems and do a shit ton of bug fixes. TTK will go up naturally.
Territories aren't a pipe dream, neither is the campaign system. Adding in a whole new system that won't translate well to the design intent will just delay things more for a system that I doubt many players would actually play or enjoy. A bored playerbase is still better than a frustrated playerbase. I think we can all predict that class locking would be highly unpopular for obvious reasons. Not being able to play the way you want to play would be frustrating.
Fixes needed that the devs should be concentrating on before adding other races.. Targeting; Melee damage too high; Extremely bad camera( why does it lock directly on my back every time I end up in a melee encounter); TTK; Plasma damage too high ( so tired of one shot kills; this isn't supposed to be COD)... and why the heck are not Tacticals/Traitors allowed to use a chainsword/Chainaxe if Sorc/Apo are allowed to use chainsword/ force sword? They can do what a Tac can do and more with the heals/ DOTs. Simple question is... Do you want this to be a melee/ plasma only game or do you want variety; because players will always gravitate toward that which is easiest; and gives the most Kills/ DPS.
Highlander servers would be a horrible idea. If i want to use plasma, I'm not going to want to be told I can't.
