Thoughts after playing the game (My Symposium)

  1. Just played the game after a day or so....had it for like a week but that sign in nonsense has to be fixed. Thats for another thread however.

    Anyways I'm noticing the game is making alot...i mean alot of issues Space Marine (THQ) made.
    First one that comes to mind is that damned tunnel-vision on the character. I mean the space marine is already like 60% shoulders why put the camera so close to them and not allow small amounts of zooming camera back or pre-rotation before the actual character moves?

    My second biggest issue is the melee, not even gonna touch the whole melee-op thing cuz it can be balanced. But this issue if never addressed will remain forever. Issue is; just because your character swings a sword does NOT mean he needs to be propelled 4 feet forward every time he does it. People are actually traversing the damn map using melee attack animations simply because its a faster method of travel. This is just silly.

    When you swing a weapon with intent to kill you do not stand still. If you did, your opponent would easily dodge out of the way and the force of your blow would be much weakened.

    Are you sure about that?

    Actually there are a range of things you do and standing still can be one of them. What you never ever do however is swing with such force that it throws you so far forward that you go past your opponent and now have your back to them.

    The melee swings in this game are retarded. It looks like a bunch of goblin fanatics have been released.

    I have never seen this happen, id laugh my ass off if i ever did.
    I wonder if its true, i never tried. If it is, it might become the new meta.

    "Don't bring limp raps"? Anyway, the melee was adjusted to propel you forward because melee could not for the life of them fight ranged characters who could walk backwards. The charge melee attack typically looks fine, but I do admit the fast attack animation would need to be adjusted to suit the motion the devs want, maybe this is a known issue but they're focusing their attention elsewhere, no idea. On whether melee is OP, honestly tweaking (not twerking) is necessary, damage, speed, particularly of the faster weapons, but it's a give take experience playing as melee as it can go really well or god awful. As to the cone of vision I guess, just like real life, it's up to you to actually look around right now and though it is common, I'd not expect to see a broad view, it gets awkward when you're zoomed out even a bit more (had a bug, my camera was farther back, couldn't fight to save my life, this isn't WoW where I can stay zoomed out and do better, it gets up close and gritty and you need to be semi precise). Though this is from playing for the past 6 or 7 months, I could definitely be considered biased and I found Space Marine to be generous with its camera as well (I'm the guy that plays games in the first person if it has any sorta action or melee).

    am i the only one that thinks melee is kinda gimped? Maybe my solid 15 FPS is stopping me from doing well in melee.

    gentlemen, science demands we put this theory to the test.
    as soon as the play with friends option is live, i suggest we hook up with a bunch of guys, split into two groups, one melee-ing the other one running from one side of the map to the other.

    the log in was fixable simply by disable any firewall on your connection for 10 seconds.

    how many hours you played? maybe you should test more certain stuff.

    melee require a lot of time and practice.
