hm. also, i hope they differentiate rubric marines with marines that have the mark of tzeentch. they are very different things.
OMG yes! TB is one of the experienced, 40K nuts that these devs should be listening to religiously. In fact, they should hire him to double check everything gameplay wise. He'd be an AMAZING independent quality checke.
TB did this video quite well, and is correct in each aspect. But i think i would still put myself in the shoes of someone with early access if at any point EC presents us the option. His getting bored sentiment on the game before its even released is ringing true in me but i think id risk it. Not cause i think he is wrong but cause looking at this game and what it aspires to be im seeing myself not really playing anything else (aside from Heroes 3 hotseats with friends from time to time but those arent frequent) in the future aside from this. So color me ready for early access, but im not all that hopeful it will ever be presented due to the points in that video.
I tend to agree, and getting bored is a problem, but then it could well be a problem for the game at release as well. My beef however isn't with any game that just has an early release of a week or so, but rather the ones where anyone can pay to get into what is loosely called the 'Beta testing' phase several months or even (Firecoughfall) years in advance and then are invited to spend more cash through the in-game cash shop. That isn't a Beta, that's Early access in drag! I feel that it is around that point that it stops being a legitimate Beta test with players who are willing to put up with a buggy and unfinished game in order to find those bugs and aid the game in becoming 'finished' and becomes a cynical cash grab and an attempt to bring an unfinished and buggy game to market. It's a shakey analogy, but I guess you could look at the process of getting involved with a game as being a bit like embarking on a new relationship. Ideally you want to find lots of things you just fall in love with, not to mention signs that you are being thought of fondly, but on the other hand if all they seem fond of is your cash, well then that's probably not a good sign for things to come.
honestly speaking that is why I don't understand why Behaviour is going to have this Mmorpg.com Preview What's the point in doing this preview (apart form marketing one) when the game's not even half ready, this can be harmful for EC imo. Still I trust the Devs and I hope they know what they're doing.
This is the part of your response I "liked" because you did manage it. I agree with almost everything: 1.) Put self destruct and Kamakazi shenanigans on Orks. Orks are F2P, a comodty, and will probably even sometimes feel disposable. Make their demise rewarding. 2.) That could certainly mean that SM's have the weakness of not being able to go everywhere an Eldar or Ork can. Some walls might be destructible, but a smart player might be able to dive through a Rockcrete doorway the SM has no way of following through. It's almost a must. 3.) Yes, but only the ascetics. Like GW, the works should be screened before implemented. I too don't want to see XxR34per7nip3rxX painted on a piece of armor.
1) great idea 2) i dont mean make small doorways that astartes cant fit through, just not doorways that are so wide 4 astartes can walk side by side through it. Everything should be accessible by all races but it would be nice to have a more cramped feeling when you're an astartes at certain points. Not the entire bases, just small areas. Like a small doorway to a hangar bay, i would keep the astartes from piling in because they can only fit 2 at a time. Keep the ceilings low at points so the astaertes feel like giants cramped in there even though it doesnt hinder their combat at all. 3)Yes it all needs to be screened by Behavior first. There could be a studio where it's all held for everyone to see and those with the most upvotes go to the top where the devs can see what the community as a whole likes out of community generated content.
The great thing about TB being a huge fan and very knowledgeable about 40 is the fact that he is very much in contact with and able to guide the already awesome Lead Level Designer Steven Lumpkin , maybe through subtle hints in their Roleplay game, as to how the game should feel. Either way, i have a large amount of faith in them. if you have not seen the Roleplay game i'm on about its here View: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTTSfN8wpsE the awesome Steven Lumkin is the GM.
