Alright so I'm curious to bring together probably the most damaging part of the community, which is the simple fact that I'm just plain tired of seeing all the negativity all the time. Virtually every day for weeks there has been a constant stream of negative, often destructive and even downright hateful lashing out from numerous people. There is a polarization from two different viewpoints.

One, which I understand but will try to remove my bias from in this thread: EC, the show goes on, it's already fun, it's incomplete, it will eventually be "successful", it will eventually become more complete.

This side has verbally abused those who are negative over the game.

Do I not enjoy the right to like interacting with my community on a daily basis, free of the continuous, repetitive complaints virtually everywhere?

The second, I simply do not understand, so please, help, and answer the question below:

    The arguments:
The game is dead or dying, it was DoA, it wasn't what was promised, it's caused from a myriad of issues ranging from personal opinion, to fairly common claims of false advertising.

This side has used personal attacks against others, and verbally abused devs.

Question: Don't you enjoy the right to voice your concern? If so, then why must you take your case to the rest of us? Those that have seen them, have seen them. We don't really want to repeat it... Day... After day... After day.

Because someone has to care why a game that sold 70+k copies (according to nathan) only has an active playerbase of 500 average (let's go with 1000 gg).

Because someone has to care why a game that made at least an approximate of 3.5 million benefit (again based on 70K copies sold and a 40$ min per customer) launched like an alpha and still looks and feels like an alpha 2 months after release.

Because someone has to care when developers, saying they are aware of issues and read forums, STILL act arrogant and pretend like nothing is wrong on streams and newsletters and on top of it engage in forums jousts like they are amateurs. Instead of just being honest about the shit and hence forth forgiven by most of the "haters" (I would).

Because someone has to care when the blame is slowly shifted on the "haters" but most of all away from the unfixed game.

Because someone has to care when any valid criticism (troll threads can go to hell for all I care) is constantly derailed by the exact same handful of fanboys and then locked by the mods protecting them.

Somewhere in all this BS, someone has to be a 40K fan and want to have the ip treated differently than a cheap whore.

Many of us have been giving ideas for over a year, Anybody remember State of Melee Thread? Now, its post-launch, and we get a thread asking what the problems of the game are!

Yeah its still melee just like it was in 2015.

Just fix Melee and balance, Give us a World Map (Its ok if its not Open World) Fix some Latency, optimization, and performances issues (Faction leaders would be nice)

Yeah we know that the rest of the content will come later, How long do we have to say Fix Melee and balance, Fix Latency, Give us World Map.

I don't think anybody would complain about how long content takes to come down the pipeline if we had at least those three things.

Hard to have a reasoned discussion when we are told to 'stfu, get out or die' if we disagree at all.

Not a lot of room for reasoned discourse there. If it was a joke, it wasn't funny at all.

Now, I know the one who said that isn't everyone, but he sure seems to be representative. We don't agree? We don't matter.

    *Shrug*

Fair enough. Why should their opinions matter to me? I am honestly curious.

I can see some reasons for such constant acts..

    1. Part of the fans are so disappointed that they actually want the game to die, like really soon and thinks that it will be a lesson for the future companies to learn from this grand failure (sooner one MMO project will be shut down - sooner a new company will take the torch to create a new MMO).

    2. Part of the fans are so disappointed (me <---), that they actually believe that the boss of bE will stand up and explain what the fuck happened with the game and that he will give more money and attention to make this game great (Nathan is just doing the job with the limited funds which the boss gives him).

    3. Some people just bought the game and didnt like it at all - they feel the urgent need to say that several times per day.

    4. Small amount of grey-white knights who still believe that harsh words would bring more attention of the devs and they will work faster (like 36 hours per day?).

Every bright minded person should see already, that this is not the fault of developers or Nathan personally - they dont have enough people (---> funds) to keep up with the needed improvements and hardcore post development. We can rage, we can praise, but that wount change anything in the speed of upgrades. While it sounds legit and logic, it also drives me crazy and Im not playing EC for weeks and not coming back any time soon. Just look at the decreasing numbers (358 now, at the prime time) - even in summer, in alpha, we had almost double numbers.

To reply to you here since the other thread was locked while I was writing:

Bullshit, people were complaining and were skeptical but there were no insults or pure hate sent towards the devs. I mean, you can understand it like that only if you really don't have any skin - for instance, your attempt at sending them a letter after Miguel left can be seen as a harassment if we follow those standards, but hey, I think we are more mature than that and can see it for what it truly is. So I cannot understand why you take 4 bad apples from the course of 3+ years and call out half of your community because of that.

Anyway, to answer your question in this topic and not remain totally OT:

First of all, damaging part of the community? Perhaps people who complain don't see themselves as such. Maybe they are damaging your personal enjoyment you have in forums but other than that, it's hardly an issue. For instance, I feel that I didn't receive my money's worth because I thought we'd get some things that were (supposed by looking at the famed infograph) in for the launch and other stuff. I also felt betrayed how they handled the launch of Early Access when they allowed whales in first despite saying that it would go different way. Etc etc etc.

But who cares right? I'm not writing my issues on threads I don't like and I think your problem is easy to solve - just don't visit the threads you find offensive and the problem's solved.

However if your actual question is why people complain in general, if you take aside the fact some things that were supposed to be in are atm not in, then please, when you find the answer to that question be sure to enlighten me with that knowledge as well, because I'm sure the answer to that question is right next to the answer for how to find cure for cancer.

  7. The only people acting like amateurs are those that continue to cry on the forums because they don't take accountability for supporting something they knew was early access. You all think you're a special snowflake deserving attention. You aren't.

So I'm to find trying middle ground here and I'm on my phone... So I'm pretty sure I'm going to get very outpaced.... I'll respond when I can.
  10. Not really. All I see is more crying.
