stepping backwards, one hand released his launcher, as it thanks to its gravity coins where much simpler to manouvre, while one hand attempted to quickly get it on his back, the other pulled out his side arm.
The volkite serpenta spat a red veritable deathray without Denatus needing to aim for any weak spot, as when the ray struck the first of the laer fighters, the delfagration of the struck area was pretty much instant, as it burned to ashes.
before he could take another shot, the other laer sprang forwards, forcing Denatus into a quick side step, his other hand now free after clamping the launcher to his back, grapped just below the head of the meteor hammer.
As a stabbing blade came for his head, he turned just in time to skewer in on his pauldron, as then imidiatly after, his melee weapon being used more like its name sake, as he smashed it into the head of the laer before it could pull out its sword, a wet crunch sounded from its insectoid head as it caved in and the creature fell over.

with his other weapons out for now, Denatus took aim with the volkite serpenta, aiming to get a shot in on their leader.

Laeran Atoll
The Laer warriors might be decent enough but compared to them the engineers were just chaff. Drawing and activating his power axe as a trio of the weak xenos approached, turning slightly to keep his injured arm and leg away from the aliens, Hadrian grinned beneath his helmet, launching into a wild display of blade-work that left the engineers in pieces behind him.

Maintaining his stance Hadrian soared into the air with a quick burst from his jump-pack, angling to land next to the enemy sergeant, lashing out with his axe.

Isaiah didn't know how exactly he found himself seperated from his Brother-Sergeant, but intended to rectify this as soon as possible - bearing his newly-acquired Falax Blades, he attempted to carve a path back towards Caphen and the Laer Sergeant.

Caphen had just enough time to notice Isaiah coming to his side to fight the leader beast, also noticing Hadrian arriving most likely trying to take the kill as his own for glory.

Caphen quipped over the vox to Isaiah as he moved to strike the Laer. "At least one man here can follow orders."

OOC: Striking at the Laer sergeant

"Makes more than just one Sergeant. Suggest you keep your eyes on the wider picture if you're missing such details. " Refusing to be snubbed when he was indeed doing his part, and with gusto judging by the kill count of his initial volleys, Davian growls out behind his helm and begins backpedaling away from the warriors. Legs a bit janky in their movements and stance in the wake of a penetrating shot to each leg he finds their enemies guns a mixed blessing on the point of power, their shots cleanly punching through rather than causing wide spread damage like a mass reactive round would. Strafing weapon barrel up and down the pursuing warrior is felled before another lash toward his head could be meted out, insectoid head blowing apart followed by slithering body splitting roughly down the middle from a final three punctuating bursts. Reversing his momentum he steps forward and plants a boot on its corpse and begins gliding his heavy bolter from left to right in an arcing series of shots intent on gunning down the remaining engineers. He could pick up Elijah's slack, he had to.

Theo smiled under his helmet feeling pride as he saw with success his and Davian's weapons come to affect maximum damage was caused and the horde was thinned greatly giving them a chance to engage bigger threats. recording the effects of the acids ammunition and grenade on xeno targets hoping it would aid in it becoming mass produced.

Theo spotted the warriors approaching him and Davian firing his bolter at them he managed to cause one to be killed by his brother devastator before they got to close to engage him. The blade cutting through his left pauldron and reaching his arm caused him to clench his teeth as he rolled as a under the Laers next strike as one of his hands went to his chain sword and his bolter become mag locked to his belt.

Rising back up behind the xeno he took a swipe at the xenos back and stomped his foot on the Laer's tail crushing bone and causing it to let out a cry of what Theo for a comment thought to be pleasure. It slithered to its back and attempted to blast the apothecary before he was able to finish the snake like xeno.

Theo readied his chain sword again as the xeno now turning and slithered waving its blades and firing its blasters as he dodge and ducked around, He watched the xeno coil its tail and move into a ball thinking for a moment it was falling back, To only be wrong in that it was coiling to spring at him both blades slicing at the him. Jumping to his side he managed to dodge the worst of the attack to only receive cosmetic damage to his left pauldron again.

Growling in his breath he charged again jumping at the Laer and plunging it deep into the xeno hoping to kill it quickly he revved and forced his chain sword through the Laer until it he knew it was dead and it was in two. Covered in gore Theo's helmet brought up warning ruins as he noticed Elijah's armor had been pierced by the xenos weaponry.

Already it punched through there armor?! adding to that with what he heard earlier from the xenos he wondered if they were resistant to pain. Making a mental note to recover there weapons and organs to be examined by there legion later. Theo grabbed his bolter back and moved back to Davian trying to keep in a formation to help gun down the xenos with his bolter.

"There weapons can pierce through our power armor brothers. I am engaging with brother Davian the remnant of there smaller forces." Theo said through the squads Vox communication to try keep the sergeant in the loop on what he was doing.

OOC Firing upon engineers

Still breathing calmly as he fought this skilled opponent Caphen remarked. "Aye Davian, my apologies for such an oversight as always you are a solid foundation that this squad is anchored to! Aim true brother!" He said genuinely sorry for his misstep, as he respected the man for his loyalty to their cause, whether he had personal issues with Illios or not, he followed his orders and served valiantly in the name of the 3rd.

"Theo, once you and Davian wipe them out we need more men to focus on the soldiers. Thin their ranks!"

Arnock was not pleased with his current performance, as he felt blood run down his body. Was this perfect? Was this good enough? NO! Fulgrim damned more of his sons and Arnock would not disappoint his father. He charged forth and back into the fight. He again went for the ones who -seemed- to be warriors. He would test their worth with the edge of his sword. He again make quick and accurate cuts at the Laer warriors.

Ganging up on the Laeran leader was successful and alien could really fight all four of them at the same time. He got shot by the volkite, stabbed by Isaiah's new blades and sliced by Hadrian's axe, but the kill was eventually claimed by Caphen who's sword sailed past the alien's guard and destroyed its torso. Laer died and exhaled a moan of pleasure as it did, most likely another insult thrown at Caphen for it didn't even felt the pain and it died mocking him, perhaps thinking he was weak, the same way his warriors think of him even now.

On the other hand, Isaiah, Hadrian and Denatus could only see as their Sergeant claimed the kill he pushed himself forward more than any of them, as if wanting to prove something, probably his own inferiority. Actually, the only thing he did is stealing the kill from their noses and taking the glory for himself. A vainglorious fool, who said he's any better than the rest of them?

These thoughts were silenced as another missile exploded in the midst of Laer fighters, Elijah blowing up few of them and Arnock moving in to finish off the stragglers and the wounded. On the other side, under Davian's and Theo's precise fire the remaining Laer engineers were massacred, the Devastator and the Apothecary pulling quite a weight here as they killed many aliens by their own hands, purging any insecurities they had before this.

As the last Xenos died silence fell on the chamber but only for a second. From a nearby tunnel a sound of heavy footsteps and bolter discharging could be heard and moments later a group of Emperor's Children arrived, ten of them, led by a Techmarine. "Hail brothers," he waved at them and lowered his omnissiah's axe, "I'm happy to see some familiar faces down here. I'm Techmarine Akaleon of the 2nd Company and you must be the unfortunate ones to be stuck down in these tunnels. Tell me, what have you discovered so far?"

Laeran Atoll
With the death of the enemy leader, and its minions, Hadrian relaxed and deactivated his power axe, stepping away from the corpse and Caphen. The arrival of the Techmarine was unexpected, although it will probably turn out to be useful, and the Assault Marine paid attention to the specialist's escort, wondering where they'd come from.
