But as it usually is the fact, the only way to show others your worth is just to keep doing your best and do what is required of you. Horus said himself, Fulgrim knew of their exploits and he was happy for it, so what does one Captain know, is he maybe better than the Illuminator? Valerion was an idiot and they would be better off with him dead. These thoughts came unburden at them during their trek through the shit and waste of the alien atoll, one could say it was the overall situation that made them moody and rightfully so. But thank the Emperor, the way to vent their anger arrived soon enough. After fifteen minutes they arrived in a wide underground chamber filled with strange machines glowing with purple inner light while two similar tunnel exits could be seen on either side of the chamber, making it some sort of a juncture or a crossroad. A number of aliens ran around them, from the earlier pict screens they knew these were the Laer (OOC they look like Sslyth I guess, except that they don't have reptile head, instead of it they have insectiod one with mandibles and many eyes and shit). They had some sort of equipment in their upper pair of arms that they used to work with the machines to some unknown nefarious alien end. Seeing the Emperor's Children, they screamed and took hold of couple of nearby ranged weapons they had and started firing at the team. Some screaming sound could be heard as well and a number of bigger Laerans arrived from one of the side tunnels, these ones carried power blades in their upper arms and guns that fired off some green matter in their lower pair of arms, led by an extra larger warrior breed. All in all, battle for some random crossroad machinery could finally begin. OOC Enemies: 30 Laer engineers, mix of ranged and melee weapons, mostly looking as auxiliary troops (Horde) 12 Laer Fighters, multi-task group (Veterans) 1 Laer Sergeant, multi-task warrior (Elite) All have mix of melee and ranged weapons. Also, I'll be going a bit in imaginative side here since there were many types of Laer aliens, different broods similar to Tyranids or ants for that matter, each of them specialized in something due to their genetic engineering and shit. He would have simply engaged as silent as usual, when he remembered Theo's words, his vox came to life as his Missile Launcher was shouldered. "Aiming on their largest, engaging with Krak Missile to break the carapace open, will then switch on long-range combat against their smaller typus to leave the melee up to Isaiah, Caphen and whomever else wishes to engage them in close combat." Just as he said his last word, the missile left the tube and headed straight for the largest warrior of the crowd, trying to decimate these beasts' morale by easily killing their champion. They would feel the same like the Emperor's Children did upon the horror of seeing Rylanor fall! OOC: Krak Missile vs. Lear Sergeant. Laeran Atoll When the Emperor's Children eventually came across the Laer, gaining the aliens' attention, Hadrian grabbed at his bolt pistols. Aiming at one of the larger specimens as they entered the battlezone the Assault Marine opened fire with both pistols. [OOC: Attacking Laer fighter with bolt pistols]
"Davian and Elijah, begin thinning that horde. The rest of you focus fire on the warriors. Isaiah, with me. We shall take on their leader. For the Emperor and Fulgrim! Death to their foes!" Caphen said drawing his power sword as he advanced towards the creature firing a ball of plasma from his newest weapon. OOC: Firing plasma pistol at leader and moving to engage in close combat.
Arnock walked out into the more open room and let the standard hang from its pole once more. He then drew his power toward as he thumped the standard on the ground. "None can stand against the might and perfection of Fulgrim's sons. Show them that fact brothers," he yelled as he charged toward the Lear Fighters. He then picked the target closest to him and attempted an overhead slash at the xeno's chest. OOC: Power Sword to the Lear Fighter.
Theo felt disgust as he and his brothers waved through filth, One of dirtier missions I guess I will ever be on, maybe there captain might loose some of his pride this mission from one of his own screw ups or bad luck. Theo thought. Clearing the thoughts from his mind he prepared for battle hearing Elijah was going to try to crack the armor of there commander he nodded and went on his vox so only the squad could hear him. "Sending a Acid grenade into there horde to help thin the horde, I will begin providing support fire after the grenades out of its tube." Theo said to his brothers using the Vox to help keep there team together and working as one. He loaded a acid grenade in his shoulder launcher and took aim using his helmets target in his visor, blinking his eye it launched sending the Acid grenade at the large horde of Laer. Raising his bolter he began firing upon the xenos. OOC launching a Acid grenade at Laer engineers.
"Affirmative Sergeant. " Deciding to play it cordial and proper with Caphen as a show of some faith in the face of a less than glamorous mission he had already long found himself a suitable position of cover near an alien machine. Right side sheltered by bulging structure and an extended portion of piping present to guard his legs he braces part way and fires, riding recoil into proper stance with a smile hidden behind his helmet. It felt good to fire upon the enemy again. Eyes picking out dense clusters of enemies and looser stragglers struggling to deal with enemy insertion thanks to the minimal adaptability afforded by the Laer's rigid caste system he homes in on those that need a little goading to embrace herd mentality, picking off small groups here and there while also driving others into larger and larger groups that his missile wielding comrade can more adequately blow to pieces. While at a glance nothing seemed to be too different about his shots the devil was in the detail and inner workings of each bolt which housed a new sort of acidic compound that would prove more voracious than even the standard anti-bio rounds, lack of penetrative power made up for the fact that engineers weren't exactly encased in much protection to begin with. "Brother Theo if you would be so kind I'd appreciate an extra set of analytical eyes on my targets, I imagine your eye, keen upon the body as it is, could provide data I simply don't have the mind for. " It was a simple request writ long as Davian hid the minor shame of asking for aid in recording his ammo's effectiveness behind a compliment and needlessly long winded statement. OOC: Acid rounds on Engineer horde. Aiming at smaller groups/herding them all closer so AoE attacks can be of greater effect. Special Ammo: Acid, Frost, Kraken, Dragonfire. Grenades: Krak, Stun
Before the ones obsessed with melee would reach their targets, Denatus would fire atleast 1 frag missile at the laer fighters, with alot of them focussing on destroying the horde of what looked to be lesser laer, it would only match if he also got a bunch of shrapnel Into the warriors "Frag missile at the fighters" he also called out over the vox as a missile streaked forwards, no reason no to follow in on being proper
<Tunnels below the Atoll> @DeranVendar @Uriel1339 @Grall_Stonefist @Vulpas @EvicusDasan1 @Casavay @Avenging-Angel @matt23 @Valonox The multi-versed squad of Emperor's Children began their fight with the similarly all-around equipped and trained breed of Laer aliens. Elijah's krak missile went flying past the Laer Sergeant who moved with uncanny speed, as fast as the Eldar Xenos who they fought the last time, his slithering form bringing him out of harm's way. Missile slammed into one of the machines and blew it up, making the faint illumination in the chamber flicker in and out, making the whole scene a little bit strange although all of them who wore their helmets would have no problem with seeing in these new conditions. Few alien engineers went up in flames but the nearby replied, shooting Elijah couple of time in his shoulder and chest. He was also the first one to see that the alien weaponry made mockery of power armor, going easily through it as if it was simple carapace. Caphen was there to continue with the assault however and he closed the distance with the slippery alien leader. The gout of plasma engulfed the Laer Sergeant and one of his lower arms disappeared in the blue explosion, making the thing scream although Caphen could swear that this scream was not actually in pain but in pleasure. Moment passed and he had to duck the sweep of the power blade coming at his head, nearly missing him while the second blade somehow went past his guard a bit and took a chunk of his arm armor. Arnock waded into combat and despite the aliens speed, he cut the first one of them easily, cutting the monster's head in two with his sword. Second alien came at him from the side but the standard bearer daftly evaded the blow and brought his weapon in front, piercing through its chest armor and killing it on the spot. But the loss of their friends didn't seem to disturb the aliens and they just kept on coming, two more of them launched a joint attack on Arnock and he was pushed back, one blade going through his abdomen while the second took a piece of his thigh with it. Before they could do more damage, they both blew up in showers of flesh and gore as Hadrian opened fire with his pistols, the Assault Marine purging the aliens on the spot. Then a number of engineers charged at him, bringing their various tools of the trade upon him. He managed to shoot two more of the aliens before the green projectile went through his arm as well as his leg, giving just enough time for three of those creatures armed with four melee weapons each to reach his side and start with the chopping (OOC @Avenging-Angel you can kill all 3 of these Laer engineers attacking you). On the other side, both Theo and Davian took their new type of weapons to the field, testing the acid their Apothecary derived from the lizardmen toxin upon these new aliens. And it worked charms at these barely-armored creatures: Theo's grenade blew up and killed five of the engineers on the spot, their flesh melting and after couple of seconds, nothing remained of them except for an ugly goo - quite an inglorious way to die. Davian on the other hand, began slaying aliens left and right, most of his rounds finding targets and he forced many of the engineers to either duck or die. Most of them however kept on going and it pretty much ended quite bad on their end, by the time the Devastator was done eleven Laeran's lied dead next to the various machines, their blood splattering the strange cog-work. At the same time, a trio of Laer fighters came at them and although Theo managed to slow one of them down with his bolter fire, just enough time for Davian to blow its chest open with his higher caliber round, two fighters reached them and attacked. Theo felt a sharp sting as the enemy energy weapon pierced his shoulder and burned his skin while Davian suffered two shots at his legs while a slice of the enemy's sword almost decapitated him. (OOC both of you can kill the 2 Laer Fighter attacking you, @Vulpas can kill the first one and @DeranVendar can kill the second one) Finally, Denatus once again brought up his missile launcher and frag missile was sent flying into the enemy defenders. It blew up and took out two of the Laeran fighters with it before another two came at Denatus, riddling his armor with new holes and drawing more blood as their blades went through but the destroyer, being sturdy as he was, stayed on his feet. (OOC you can kill these 2 Laer fighters with your next post). Isaiah and the newest addition to their team Gerbertus, sliced their way through the nearby engineers, killing a number of them with ease although both of them suffered a number of wounds which then again, didn't seem to slow them down much. Overall so far, the battle was going quite well. "By the Aquilla!" Elijah roared as the projectiles simply punched through the armor, pushing him a bit back as he tried to evade whatever wore to come. But how fast they were, and did he actually just hear a moan of pleasure of the enemy?! Were they mocking the Legion of the Emperor's Children?! Soon they will only scream in agony as their carapaces would be peeled off from their semi-dead corpses! "Switching to Frag ammunition, aiming at their regular fighters!" Elijah informed angrily via Vox, before doing exactly as he said he would. He may deny Caphen's order, but it was to his best judgment, and somewhat self-hatred on having missed the shot against the leader, so he would at least take the closest to him out!
