Yea, the way it will work is this, you'll pick a class and loadout. So perhaps a heavy weapons guy with rokkits. You get killed by anti-infantry, so you switch to melee with extra armor and big choppa. Maybe that works, maybe it doesn't. Sometimes, you can't get through the enemy defenses, its just impossible with regular classes. You change to a Cybork Madboy and crush the enemy lines with your fancy class until you win or die, and then you continue. It seems their will be benefits for people who stick to the same class though.
So basicly everyone is gonna be a normal Ork Boy? Until they'll "buy" any higher ranking Ork then a standard Boy? (Cyborks, Nobz, Big Meks etc.)
That is my understanding of it, although earlier it was stated that paying players would be nobz and f2p would be boyz, although I suspect that this will be cosmetics and points related. That is to say, a premium player would be able to take 500 points worth of battle gear and grenades, while a f2p would take 300. <-- that is conjecture on my part, but would be reasonable.
For folks who may not have been around for too long: note that "paying players" here has the meaning of "people who pay the one-time fee" not "subscription required." (This isn't directed at you, wraith, just at other people reading your post)
Well, you can surely call this misunderstanding from my part. Didn't quite catch how Classes work anywhere. Didn't think everyone would be running around as Boyz. No Nobz+ until you're in the middle of the battlefield hm?
Yup, although to balance that out we won't be seeing any space marine terminator mains either, so at least that's a plus.
Some people believe that 1 Space Marine, is capable of taking on 50 Orks, thinking that that's how it's gonna be in game. No confirmation on that, but don't think so at all. So Heroes are made to break this balance and tip the war to your favor. Seems nice, just didn't understand it at first. Still hopin' to run around as a Nob though!
Thankfully it has been confirmed that who will be able to kill who is a matter of skill. No Space Marines getting 50kills/death unless they're super-cyborg reflexes and third person shooter experts, and they have back up. It should be more or less equal decided on tactics and skill. Although each factions will have differences, overall they should be fine. Now, to run around as a Nob! My understanding is that Nobz and Mega-armored-nobz will be elite heroes. Although it hasn't been determined, I suspect that since they cost a certain requisition, and requisition (presumably) can be earned through battlefield performance, if you can use these elites effectively, they may at least partially pay for themselves, letting them be manifested more often. And finally, when playing an elite class, have someone else in your squad go a healer class to support you and make sure you get the most bang for your buck.
Okay, what we KNOW right now (which is changeable if the Devs feel like it should, pre-alpha and all) is that all factions have a number of "standard" classes, who are more or less equal in health, movement and such technical stuff, but differ by their abilities and weaponry. We know by now that Space Marines will have four basic classes: Tacticals (Balanced out with a normal gun, blade and boltgun for melee and some 'nades for the odd BOOM), Assaults (For jumping about the battlefield and playing catch-the-chainsword-suckers with enemies), Devastators (Tanky dakka-specialists who spew out more lead than a Necron with a cold) and Medics (Everyone can help dying friendlies, but these do it BETTER). The Elite classes could be many things, like Scouts (BOOMHEADSHOT), Veterans (Quality is always better) or the mentioned Terminators (For maximum FLESH IS WEAK), who is like your usual classes with the notable difference that they cost Requisition Points to spawn as, just like Tanks and vehicles in general. Then we have Heroes who we don't really know anything about, just that they will be very expensive and have a cooldown, so they will require timing to use (F.eks. use a Chaplain when your usual troops just don't cut it and you need them to perform better). So, on Ork Classes, you should suspect something similar. Replace Tacticals with Boyz (Average boyz who are kinda squishy but quite killy in close quarters, and there will be a lot of them), Assaults with Stormboyz (Just like Marines, these are Boyz with some rockets on their backs and some stick in hand), Devastators with Lootas (Again, Boyz with heavier weapons) and Medics with Painboyz (Againagainagain, heal Orks or keep them fighting), Scouts with Kommandas (The only actual difference is that they kill you without being noticed), Veterans with Nobz (Big, killier versions of the normal classes) and Terminators with Meganobz (You should know the drill by now). The most important thing to remember is that you need not be bound by the Codexes, as this is a game which needs to be balanced. Don't know about you, but I want the game to be balanced and fun alongside fluffy, but if I need to choose one, I wouldn't choose Fluffy as my first choice. I wrote an entry about this the other day (Wait, where did this link come from?: http://forum.eternalcrusade.com/threads/the-issue-of-categorization.27813/) So, 1: This isn't a traditional MMO - You have one character and then you change your class and layout as you please. If you think you will make a character per class, you will be mistaken - Look at Planetside 2 to get an example of how these kind of games will work. And 2: Yes, there are fewer Painboyz than Meks in fluff, but in fluff Tactical Marines go about in squads of 5-10 Tacs at all times and newer go about alone - Will you have that too? You need a game that let you do as you want and as you please, not a game that restricts your fun and whims. When all comes to all, Warhammer 40,000 is a very restricting universe where you won't go out of your place in the universe if you value your existance. /rant off
Blakk do not forget this RT store is for the Founders ATM the items there most are for founders only as far as my understanding of how they are working on the store. The Items are for the looks and the Elite and Heros are different characters. and MegaNobs are the terminator Equivalent unit just like the wraithguard for eldar
