Just to change something for the sake of it. How about treaded vehicles use a different controls scheme from a cars. W-Ram Q-Left tread forward E-Right tread forward S-Break A-left back D-Right back
That.... is actually a really good idea. And has obvious mappings to dual-stick controllers which it looks like is also a design consideration.
well, if you're playing on the console, this poses a unique design challenge. at first I thought using the two sticks would kind of do it, but no you need the right stick to act as the mouse for looking around. the shoulder buttons might be for shooting or something... still if this was a PC title only that'd be really interesting to see
I don't think with the controller is much problem.... Left Analog stick = moving in direction you are pushing towards to (at least on PS4) And the Right Analog stick to look around / aim, etc. I think that is also BF4 control.... But I do not think it will be hard to utilize really, but that would be one thing to worry only once Console versions are confirmed! (What I hope at least PS4....)
As a driver in a tank, you look forward. Left stick would control the left track, right stick the right track, easy.
So Tyryt, the driver does not shoot the turret then? For many gamers, driving and shooting a vehicle is an all in one package. I personally wouldn't want to drive a vehicle if it didn't have some capacity to kill.
It can run over people. And no, hopefully the driver won't also be the gunner (maybe a smaller hull mounted forward firing weapon). The gunners shoot.
Developers said already they want to do their best to make drivers being drivers and gunners being gunners. This means for efficiency you will need a full loaded tank. a Predator would for example need 4-5 people for full operation (1 driver, 1 main cannon, 1 side cannons or 1 per side cannon + sub-gun at top) Where Driver = Gunner too would be perhaps an assault bike, but even landspeeders would be driver = driver and 2nd person then the gunner
