So if Malcom used his full turn to just activate his ward hes pretty much impossible to kill unless the attack has 10+ AP or does more than 40 dmg?

Your character barely has any advanced training at this point so the ward would only last for a combination of 4 wounds before failing. Think of it more like a personal shield which is mostly effective against powerful alchemy rather than projectiles as using it against a basic attack is kinda useless if something even more powerful could hit you afterwards.

Taking the day off to work on other things and do some minor touches towards RP materials. Here's something I'm working on from my friends 3D Printer that I commissioned.
