The Europan Conflicts AHRP OOC/Planning Thread

  1. And now I see shogun and samurai style power armor in contrast to the knight looking ones. :p
The tech tree of this universe sounds amazing so far, love over the top kind of stuff. And with the mention of Kimblee I now find myself just what sort of character I want to play, either a morally questionable Alchemist, a knight from a pyro happy noble house, a dedicated medic, or an combat engineer with a love for explosions.

  2. More or less done with the small detailed portion of Alchemy. It's of course still a generalization of it but hopefully puts to rest most concerns and questions regarding its use and application. I'm sure most of you are probably worried about the parasitic nature of it as well MWAHAHAHAHA. I swear, I'm not evil anymore.
  3. It seems interesting but maybe to avoid a possible plot twist in the future I wont have Ferdinand be an alchemist or at least not a very powerful one and if I may be so bold I have an idea of what I think these early prototype steam powered suits would look like.

if at all possible this is what I would like my suit to look like given they should be in early development.
  4. You're more or less on the right track, in fact most of the standard infantry look more like medieval archers and crossbowmen with small sections of plate over their uniforms and a heavy focus on bolt-action rifles. Since the technology to rapidly produce fortifications exists though in short amounts of time, dead locks are very common and normally the fighting comes down to vicious close quarters fighting forcing an emphasis on melee armaments and short ranged weapons.

Storm sections will normally be seen carrying MP-18 type SMGs or shotguns with a small support number of flamers or grenade launcher infantry to clear out trenches and bunkers.

Rifle sections (the most common) are basically almost the same as WWI variants.
Example of a Rifleman for the CAS:

Shock sections aka Knight Squadrons are three-five man teams of power armored infantry wielding power melee armaments on one hand and the other hand has an underslung machine gun or flamethrower. The power armour is normally segmented metal plates bolted over an exoskeleton frame with a steam powered backpack in the initial phases but advanced forms develop more towards hybridized battery packs which slim down the frame and better pneumatic systems for power armour to condense its size to be more form fitting.

This is an idea of what they will look like in the next war which is what the RP will go transfer into and example of what a Knight-Paladin of the Albion Order would look like:

  5. Gets better and better each time you explain more of the lore but what I posted would be the standard for power armor at the start of the rp correct? Like something my character as a knight of an order would start with or are we strictly confined to the normal infantry man's gear at the start and have to work towards getting a suit of power armor?

  6. But Evil DMs are the fun DMs! :D

With powerarmor knights being a thing on both sides, would there be dedicated units with crossbows or even pneumatic rifles that use the special metal mentioned earlier to counter Knights like in medieval times?

Yup my Guy is definitely going to be a Rifleman and i guess he was drafted near the end of the first conflict so he can be the required age. I guess he'll be from castile cause it sounds french-ish and i want to make a French character :p . Question does Storm section armor look like Rifle armor ? Is the only difference armarments ?
EDIt: also Burias gives a good point and if so i'd love one.
  8. What I was listing was just generalizations of what it would be like during the first war. In terms of what you get with your classes is redundant as I'll start things off immediately after the end of the first War with the CAS looking to re cooperate its losses. You'll go through training (re-training in some cases), be given options for specialization, and be able to advance the player relatively quickly before the time skip towards the second war where then I'll give you guys options to choose from for weaponry and armour.

To answer Burias question about the new types of ammunition derived from the elements, during the events of the Tears of the Dying Sun, over 200 new elements are deposited on Earth (no I'm not going through the headache of actually making 200 new elements lol, that would be excessive even by my standards), several of them have densities stronger than that of titanium or tungsten. If you're familiar with how tungsten anti-tank rounds work, you can imagine what these suckers can do but the trade off is that they're extremely heavy meaning your standard infantryman isn't going to be carrying around these rounds and they're expensive. You'll mostly see them altered into melee weapons by Alchemists of the Earth School or on larger scale weapon emplacements such as field guns, tanks, and naval vessels.

When I mentioned there would be medieval elements in the combat I wasn't meaning crossbows and regular bows, more of the melee weaponry which was associated with WWI to insinuate that melee combat is even more important. I haven't released the technology tab yet so you wouldn't know it yet but military applications weren't advanced as far, most of the advancements are in the medical and industrial field before the war started.

Here's a section from the Medical Field section:
Alchemy has been a godsend for the development and advancement of medical practices. Over the course of a century, medical technology has far exceeded that of the normal time frame. Where traditionally injuries and infections normally lead to amputations or severe mutilation of limbs, mechanical prosthetics and in most cases, regeneration of limbs and organs is possible. While medical science bans study into what most would associate as Necromancy and draws a fine line into the creation of human hybrids (more advanced forms of Chimeras) it has allowed for the population of most countries to boom.

With the advancements also comes the rapid decrease of prices for medical equipment and services. Almost anyone can afford most operations and even limb replacements are generally affordable to the average person in most countries. With the advancement of prosthetics and mechanical limbs, these have been achievable through the application of metallurgy and the study of the human body through countless decades of relentless research.

During the first early decades of Alchemy's resurgence and the widespread nature of deaths and incidents of rebounds, medical science advanced rapidly as more was learned that could possibly be imagined. Cancerous and tumor colonies were discovered and documented with cures being developed. X-rays and enhanced radiation scans were developed to assist with surgeries unaided by Alchemist professionals. Even common drugs were synthesized to be more potent and effective with stimulants and adrenalines being easily synthesized from fewer plants and animals leading to larger natural habitats untouched by human hands.

The most ground-breaking development however has been trans-body neurological links. Similar to the concept of an Alchemist's bounded field, medical science has begun to synthesize ways of projecting a person's thoughts over distance. While still in its early stages, the CAS was close to perfecting it beyond the beginning stages before the beginning of the Europan War.
  9. Crossbows were just the first thing to come to mind with knights and Alchemy speak going everywhere when i was thinking of some sort of anti-material rifle counterpart. I can see why they would be used for more industrial purposes instead of used for individual infantry. And 200 elements?! I don't blame you for not naming them lol.

The medical field for alchemy sounded interesting before knowing some examples, now it seems like a must have for a our little group. Chimeras and bionic limbs too? Mad science is favorite science. :D

  10. Ah ok seems like the start will mostly be focused on character development which makes sense and a quick question even though it's probably very obvious Dietschland is basically Germany right? And said Germany still has a large Prussian enfluence I.e have the Teutonic order for it's knightly order right? Sorry if these question are oddly specific but I kinda need to know for me to adapt Ferdinand into this universe.
