Neither do I but that's what we get. I said before they went into early access too soon. They wouldn't need to do that much of balancing and give people new bling bling and whatnot and could instead focus on getting the core mechanics right and getting the game core content complete. Yes I know different teams are working on different stuff but I still think things would be faster and smoother if they sticked with a proper alpha.
The devs didnt take risks with the early alpha, recently devs go to early alpha as soon as the game is "playable", its the best way to finance the progression of the game. Also there was a fanboy who said Really? if that was full focus, if they developed the game in normal focus we would have waited 10 years just to play Harkus And another gem from the same fanboy: "Everything else is being delivered" huh. After 9 months of alpha, i still don't see Eldars and Orks, I still don't see weapon customizations, no wargears, no character progression, no Tyranids....hell not even robes Warhammer Space Marine succeded, Overwatch succeeded, hell, even Battleborm succeded. Developing a game of EC scale is hard per se, so you wether have the skills and resources to do it or just dont do it. They struggle because "X is hard" isnt an excuse now. This is exactly what i said. The game is too hard and too complex for the devs. They reached a level where they are struggling hard and finding difficulties to advance with the contents (Eldar, Tyranids) Also, i want to add, when i mentioned the robes, i didnt mean the robes themselves are an issue, it was how it reflected the Devs task management skills when they dont know how overcome a problem common with many fantasy games and avoid delay in the progression. I know the Devs are doing their best, but you know, when you are a company, the customers don't care about you doing your best or not, they care about the product that they paid for. If some people are satisfied with the current situation, hundreds of others who unfortunately quit the game are bored of playing the same unbalanced maps over and over and getting slaughtered by melee all that clinging to the hope of finally seeing one of the major promises that were made by the devs.
Just some thoughts, hope it makes sense. It's easy to immediately think of someone like Goldo as someone with unreasonable expectations, with no patience, with a too big sense of entitlement. What I see is someone who REALLY, REALLY wants the game to succeed. Not to put words into his mouth, but his reaction and frustration is not because Goldo is a bad person (or whatever), it's because he's a passionate fan. Nobody who doesn't care about whether the game succeeds or not would take the time to even write these long forum posts. The absolutely worst thing would be a community where everything that happened to the game was received with a shrug. These outbursts of frustration are, in that sense, a good sign.
I have to say despite the game current roughness, its already a major addiction of mine. Maybe its because im part of a clan and play with my buddies...but then I spend alot of time solo playing. Still this game is a hell of alot of fun and has peaked and kept my interest far greater than many of the "highstream" games like Battlfield, CoD, RPG's etc. In fact its to the point now where eternal crusade is literally the only game on my pc. While I do get tired of the same maps over and over, against the same freak'n opponent, the PvP aspect keeps it new and exciting, "Oh Shit!" and "Hell Yeah!" moments are still being thrown left or right. My wife hates the game, she doesnt play it...she just yells at me to be quite im shouting >.<
I am going to throw my two cents in here as a player of the game and not as my mod status: This game has had its rough points but as time progresses I see more and more being done with the game that is moving it along in progression towards the game that I am sure we all want to see. I know some people aren't happy with the idea of spending time on the RTS items but it's to test the system out. You got to remember this is alpha there is a very distinct lack of spit and polish that shows the best quality game right now. I run the game at 5-15 FPS but with my machine struggling to run the game at the same time I see the changes each build and see how the team is trying to get us a playable game. Currently yes there is a crash bug that is causing some of the best machines out there to crash but once its fixed I am looking forward to seeing more of what the devs can do with 4.11. There might be some who will claim that oh I am a mod so of course I am going to white knight the game, but I will be perfectly and bluntly honest if I didn't see progression from the team or changes that are being put in the right direction I would stop following the game. I am not getting paid to Mod these forums or to be a white knight for the game, nor would I if I didn't believe in the team and see how they are working on the project to bring us the best game they can. I will say if you don't like the direction of the game you should take a break, there are a lot of games out there right now you can play and come back one the game is out of Alpha. Not everyone is built to be an Alpha tester and there is no shame in that as some Alpha builds will cause the game to be unplayable and that is all part of how these things work. Once beta is out and they have announced more optimizations and have more of the game fleshed out I think you will enjoy it more. This is just my thoughts on things and by no means me telling you to stop playing, It's up to you. Now as a Mod I will be watching this and if it gets out of hand or turns into an fight I will put an end to it, so just keep everything civil and this as an open discussion and we can all continue to enjoy this thread.
Everytime Nathan interrupts Brent, i sacrifice a kitten to the dark gods. And i tell you, the dark gods asked me to stop, cause the warp is allready filled with the souls of innocent kittens. The only thing i think the devs are doing wrong is their release expectation. This game will not be ready this summer and if they do half of it will be missing, double the ammount will be promised and this will make such a bad reputation that they can scrap the game alltogether. They should push back Release until next year and come back with good news if release is possible earlier. But at the moment, no. It is getting better with every patch and every month they work on this. But they need more time to shape and polish the game sufficient. I have faith in the developers, and i think if they have the time they need, they will create a 40k experiance that will be unmatched, and will be for quite a long time At least thats what i think
Same, its my only game for six month (bought Armada and Total War though). And it was my first shooter ever. Spent already more than 500 hours on it and not going to stop..Its just an alpha. AND its the first and the last W40k MMO which we will see, so we better love it, because the devs will do what they do no matter how loud our whines are. One cannot hurry them, or say which road they should go - they feel confident and moving into the direction they want to move. Cant do much here about global settings.
nathan said some times that release day is just another day of optimising/Expand the game they will just continue working on the game the same or next day
