Jozai looked at the crazy, but gorgeous Wych. "I think Frank's got it", he responded with a smirk. Adopting a stabilizing firing stance Jozai was about to take aim with his bolt pistol until he heard their new addition scream "Grab the other and let's get the frack outta here mate!". Moving almost automatically Jozai shifted from his position and picked up the woman, his years of aspirant training lending his deceptively small frame strength. "I hope you know I would never touch a lady without her permission, but I'm assuming you're alright with this." Jozai quipped with an easy-going smile plastered on his handsome face. "After all this" he gestured with amusement at the chaos all around the Exiles, "I'm sure we can all do proper introductions". With a charming smile Jozai made sure the woman was secure and comfortable before turning his back on the her and began firing his bolt pistol with the ease and precision at the incoming Hydra.
Malrak had not really cared about the hydra firing at them as it was too far away for him to really do anything about anyways but the Kabalites caught his attention. He hated the eldar so much and truthfully he didn't even know why he just wanted to see everyone of their lives extinguished minus the one that is driving the raider of course. She atleast seemed to not treat him like an animal but the rest need to die, he reached out a cloak covered right arm and wanted to try somthing he had read about in the book chained to his left arm. The text had simply called it crush and so he reached out with his arm and concentrated on the two Kabalites and began to slowly raise his arm and close his claw. [trying to crush the two Kabalites into dust using Malrak's psychic abilities]
Nodding to August he went for the older woman, when a gust of air, blasted him aside and he was left with an awkward pose as he hugged the air.Dumbfounded he looked to Jozai as he already fired his bolt pistol, civilian already in his embrace. Pouting at his stolen duty, young Electropriest decided to play along,hell-bent on getting out of here as the work is done. Uncoiling his whip he tested it a few times by whipping it on the ground (that...and he always loved the sound of cracking whip!),with his backs turned to the Raider and slowly moving towards it he kept his eyes at the approaching Dark Eldar, while Jack and Jozai provided fire-support.
The flak tank slowly came to a stop, the effective range of the hydra anti air autocannons was far superior to both the disintegrator cannon on the raider and especially the bolt pistol mitigating any damage these two weapons could have done from this distance. Even at maximum range though it was at least known to the Imperial members of the group that the Hydra had sophisticated targeting cogitators which allowed it to effectively track and take down flyers and skimmers alike almost regardless of the skill of its pilots and regardless of distance between them. The longer the group waited for the hydra machine spirit to correct its aim the more likely it would be that they would have to abandon the raider before the flak tank turned it into a burning wreck. As the raider flew forward it was obvious that the buildings were defending against the worst of the Hydras attack but the vehicle was out in the open having followed the road northwards towards the military quarter before it had stopped. The only difference was that the driver was actively pivoting to keep the thicker forward armor facing the raider and also to keep the hull mounted heavy bolter at an angle of fire that can still shoot at the xenos craft. The mutants inherent psychic ability crushed one of the Kabalite warriors under the weight of his own armor but it only affected one of the two, the other not even stopping to help his kin ducked into the building avoiding all the suppressing fire of the group. Jack seeing the Kabalites go into cover stopped firing and vaulted back over the side of the raider where he then ducked back down into his seat all the while not breathing a word. Behind the hydra the band of exiles were still holding off the attackers keeping the rest of the PDF contained and unable to assist the impetuous flak tank.
After some careful maneuvering the raider finally managed to get away from the hydra leaving it behind as it moved further northwards. the escape did not go flawlessly however as numerous hydra autocannon rounds impacted the transport and severely damaged many of its major systems leaving the raider barely controllable. Nevertheless the group had managed to get away and although the Hydra behind them had once again started up its engines to try and give pursuit the band eventually left it far behind. However the raider was badly damaged by the hydra and even as the transport hovered into the military quarter proper its engines slowly began to give out and the skimmer began to lose altitude falling at speed towards the rockcrete pavement of the military quarter itself. As it impacted the ground the momentum made the vehicle travel a least a couple of hundred feet across the rockcrete before it eventually drew to a halt in the middle of the street. A fire had started in the ship interior and the impact had fractured the hull beyond any possible repair the remainder of the journey would have to be on foot from this point. The military quarter was a warzone, while the area the group had landed in was presently deserted the signs of a recent firefight still littered their surroundings, most of the buildings seemed to be built more to resist a large scale attack and were festooned with holes from autogun fire. a fire in a nearby ammo dump was detonating ammo supplies every so often and nearby a squad of dead PDF soldiers surrounded a single also dead dark Eldar kabalite warrior. The atmosphere was also far from quiet, with the sounds of autogun fire being heard in the distance and every now and then the horrifying pain filled scream of some poor unfortunate being hit with one of the Kabal splinter rounds. Further down the road the group could still see the space elevator stretching out into the sky, between them and it was a destroyed PDF military checkpoint the trooper responsible for manning it was lying backwards dead over his own barricade a splinter round embedded in his chest and a agonized wide eyed look on his pale face. The couple of refugees that the group picked up moved to flee the wreckage of the burning raider clearly more interested in getting away from this strange group of individuals than hanging around.
Frank groaned as he picked himself up from the ground after they had crashed. " Who is still alive after that?" The question was pro forma, there was no care in his voice. He checked himself and his gear as he dusted himself off. He made way towards the dead bodies at the checkpoint to see if they had anything useful.
Malrak shook some debris off of himself and stood up. "I live and it looks like the refugees fled, I suppose it's better that way." He opened up his cloak to give the eyes on his torso full view of the area and followed Frank. They were getting close to the elevator so at least there was some form of progress made but with the raider destroyed they have a long walk through a war zone ahead of them.
August gave an aggravated sigh as he pushed a small piece of Raider off of himself, using his Hellgun to help push him to his feet. He looked out after the refugees who were now fleeing back out into the no mans land. "Your welcome by the way!" He couldn't believe that they just left them like that, did they really think they'd have a better chance of surviving without them. Then again, for all they knew they were just going to eat them. "I'm still here, best head out quick. Don't wanna give any of these bastards a chance to catch up to us again." He checked over his Hellgun to ensure it was still in working order from the crash as he prepared to head out. On foot. Again. This was going to be a long day...
The dead bodies at the checkpoint were equipped with autoguns of the rifle and pistol variety, it seems most of the weapons had not even been fired once in this battle as the guns found on many of the corpses still had full clips perhaps a testament to how suddenly they were all killed. Aside from the weapons the PDF had an assortment of various junk from their private lives, one even had a packet of locally produced Lho-sticks in the pocket of his fatigues. Jack emerged from the wreckage not much worse for wear, tossing off a piece of the debris that was holding him down he slowly got to his feet and moved away from the wrecked Xenos craft. Checking his own hellgun for damage he dismissed the presence of the corpses around him as he walked forward towards the checkpoint, making no attempt to disguise his look of annoyance at losing the transport he glanced from his view of the street at the space elevator in the distance. More to himself than to anyone in particular he voiced his thoughts to the rest of the group. 'There better be a good ship waiting at the top of that elevator, because right now I would take a PDF patrol barge over another trip in one of these Raiders, Xenos don't know how to make a sturdy craft worth a frak... In the meantime I suggest we keep moving forward, better we do that than sit around here waiting for these guys buddies to come looking for their missing report.' Past the checkpoint was an open road leading towards the space elevator, there was still no signs of life although chances were once the group had left the area something would appear, a series of manhole covers lined the streets leading to the waterworks of the military quarter. The burning remains of a toppled building had fallen across the road and was partially blocking the groups view beyond the immediate are of the street although it would not forbid passage in that direction.
Frank craned his neck, stretching. " Lets go underground. Easier for our limited numbers. " With that he grabbed a manhole cover, moved it, then dropped down. As soon as he was on solid ground again he looked around aiming his weapon to make sure it was clear. He stepped aside so the others can make it down.
