Good points maybe its just been the meta's I have played where the short ranged guys have been very small select groups supporting shoot and run groups. And this particular Group isn't well Rounded at all. Imperial sides - 4 Melee/Short Range 1 Long Range Eldar Side - 3 Melee/ Short Range 1 Med Range Teleporter 1 Psyker (Don't know load out yet) Edit: So it is definitely going to be a how we mix well kind of RP because we are screwed against certain types of enemies.
Warp Spiders: Short-ish range, teleporting terrors. Dire Avengers: Bread & butter of the aspects. Good at all ranges, best at close to med range. Dark Reapers: "Heavy" armoured longrange support. Think snipers, but with fully automatic missile launchers. Howling Banshees: Plain melee, with power weapons and nice agility. Scare the shit out of anyone they get into cqc with. Striking Scorpions: Mildly strong, stealth-based CQC. They don't scare people because they're dead before they can be scared. Fire Dragons: The bane of anything vehicular. Meltas for everyone! Swooping Hawks: Flying bastards. From what I see, basically flying Dire Avengers. A bit unnerving, in that respect. Shining Spears: Pod-racing with lances. As awesome as it sounds. Shadow Spectres: think a mixture of Swooping Hawks and Dark Reapers, with a mixture of Anti-Armour mixed in. Mobile Anti-Armour laser-dudes. As horrific as it sounds to anyone in the lovely casement of a Leman Russ.

Maybe I should go all Mark of the Wulfen and go feral on everyone involved! And storm bolters are not really a short range weapon, should be classified medium/long.
