It happens often enough. You sit at A, defending it for your verry last, and suddenly you see C gets contested. Of course, loosing C is not good, so you have to get there. Either you: A) Gather some people, spawn a rhino, jump into the rhino, drive there (Anything could happen in between of course!) and reinforce the Defenders of that point (if there are any) B) Redeploy, choose Point C -> Voilá. For me It's a no brainer wich of those two you will choose. And we see this allready. Suicide Teleports are immersion breaking and feel a little cheesy but of course are darn effective. A game mechanic with good intention getting used in a way not intended i guess. I would suggest if you choose to redeploy, you can only spawn at the Prime-Spawn location (the one you have even if all points are captured) Of course, people could still suicide otherwise, or let them be shoot by teammates, but it would include more work... maybe the same ammount as actually getting there? So what do you think? Any other ideas how to prevent suicide teleports? Should suicide-teleports stay and are good and important as they are?
I support this idea. Logistics should be more important in strategy, at the moment, moving around the map for those who have points is far too easy.
Agreed. I abuse it as much as anyone, but I feel silly doing it, and a little dirty. Of course, the time it takes to capture a point, plus the shortened timers, means that's the only viable way to respond to many point captures in time.
I tried to avoid this tactic myself as i consider it cheap but gave into it last patch still do it every now and then when i feel the fate of the match hangs in the balence I would suggest making it so people cannot spawn on a contested objective always seemed a little silly to be to lock down a possition then only to wonder hmmm ok now where is there contested spawn at, i would prefer it just to be a straight up fight against those defending and then waiting for a counter attack from another point.
contested spawns are just as far as other point is, maybe 50m closer, so it isn't of much difference, unless its medusa with its insane traveling distances. I am more concerned with spawns being contested only when point is and not when enemy is present on point. Ever since goddamn patch 17
This is so annoying. So we cleared the point, I'm placing the capture device. Suddenly, 5 Orks spawn on top of me.
I'm still adamant that ALL 'spawning' should be done via visbible in game assets such as drop pods or webway gates etc that could be 'placed' somewhere in designated map zones potentially with some form of random scatter by those deplyoing in with newly respawned groups of players who just died I am not a fan of vehicle mobile spawn but see this as a feature (since planetside 2) that won't be leaving this game unfortunately. This devalues the true importance of logistics and makes the establishment of a true front line impossible. It would really be interesting to try a patch with no mobile spawns or spawning at points and truly see how more visceral the fighting would be, with much more emphasis being placed on observation, spotting and pinning down and enemy's line advance. Spawn popping into existence is just the most irritating phenomenon as it is off putting visually as well as tactically. Suicide teleporting should not be a thing and planetside handled that badly. Suiciding should get you a small xp loss eg -50xp?
I think mobile spawns are legit but would rather see redeployment send you back to the starting or defending dz to simulate new troops arriving to the battle if no mobile spawn available
I would greatly enjoy this. Clearing out a point would be "clear" until reinforcements show. It would massively shake up the defend and attack meta, meaning a much more methodical approach to combat being necissary Planetside 1, which is a game I tout as being one of the few FPS games to truly capture the idea of melding strategy and FPS, logistics won or lost battles in that game, it had a long TTK too, but could have downtimes of upwards of 5~10 min as you rally the next assault, depending on how disorganized you were, however the few elite we able to field a couple platoons worth, anywhere, any continent, in less than 2 minutes. Modern games don't trifle with the idea of logistics, or if they do, they do so as little as possible. No one asks "how do I get from point A to B" they just look at a map, and click on the closest spot. Its kind of a forgotten concept in large scale FPS Now I've made myself sad.
