So...exactly as the title reads, how about a Stikkbomb as a melee weapon concept It's perfectly orky! I'm sure we can all envision orks beating something to death with a primed grenade, and if it has a chance to explode on each hit or clang, so much the better! "Pull the pin and throw it! NO THE OTHER PART!" Orks also have the Tank Hammer, a rokkit on a stick swung as a single-use anti vehicle melee weapon. Orks may never get Melta or Grav weapons so I think we should get something silly thats just as dangerous to us as it is to our victims!
I like rokkits better. On the stikkbomb weapon it might work as something like a knife that explodes if the durability goes down but it is not big enough to be anything more. If it exploded on hit or clang chance then people would complain as you cannot predict it which would lead to people not using it but if you knew it would explode if durability went to 0 then you could use it to trick others.
What if- instead of Knuckles, we could equip a stikkbomb there instead? I'd say make it a unique Clubba, but we've already got one of those. (That's amazing when it's not slower than that klaw.)
I'd make it a Unique Klubba that has a chance to explode, causing 50% damage to you and 100% damage to your foe. Counts as broken after that and must regenerate. Will also explode if clanged too many times.
This makes super stickbomb suicidal charge seem tame by comparison! Well. suicideal if you don't fork out the LP for the Big Metal Bit, which only takes half durability from the super stikkbomb and protects the boy behind it, Who's all grin, unlike the poor bastard that melee'd the bomb on the shield who's just a smear.
The tankhammer has been mentioned throughout this thread, and that makes me happy. In regards to never getting melta/grav, you have rokkits. I can't speak for where the game is now, but rokkits were one of the best weapons in game for me. You have AT, and even with its flight path you can still hit tanks farther than melta (like from cover). It is also the best ambush weapon in game, as well as a respectable AoE choice. Even after the nerf all you needed was a quick pistol spritz to make up the difference. Love rokkits, live rokkits. But yes, stikkbomb melee sounds cool, if ridiculous. Tankhammers are even better.
If ya fink Fist spam's aweful, wait until we get a one shot melee weapon that has a stikk -just- long enuff for tha Ork not to get blown up too! Then the one that comes with no gaurentees. It's so Orky, It deserves a name! 'Trusty' Lil' 'Sploder. Were there fluff text. "About as trustworthy as that Deathskull that's been eyeing your kit."
