although 'aven a space battle aboard a space hulk tat randomly appears from da warp wooz be gud!!! tyranidz would be aboard dem old hummie shipz anywayz! Big close quartas fightin is what da orks do best!
Anyone here ever play battlefront elite squadron, with the ability to fly back and fourth between ground battles and space battles. The maps are a bit small but the concept is right.
I'd agree combat aboard space ships would be cool, but remember the characters from the factions we pick aren't necessarily the ones who fly the vessels, and space combat in 40k is slow (if the lore is anything to go by), and would be more like those old pirate ship simulators then epic grudge matches against agile space ships. So ship to ship fighting = yes, ship on ship fighting = No. Also, how cool would 40k combat in zero G be.
Broadside tactics are pretty much standard in 40K lore, but that doesn't rule out faster, more frenetic void fighter combat. Dodging in and out of the various spires and towers of the Imperium's gothic ships or hurtling past the solar sails of Eldar craft. There are plenty of ways that the devs could handle space combat without having to resort to slower-paced combat. Although personally, I have to say I'd be quite interested to see that aspect of the game. A larger scale version of the multi-crew ship combat that Star Wars: Galaxies had. None of this I'm expecting, or even particularly wanting at launch, but I'd happily pay for a SWG Jump To Lightspeed style space expansion further down the line.
i would love to see space combat. i would also love to be able to board a enemy ship as well. for pve aspects they could have it where a random huge space hulk appears randomly and those that focus on pve can go off and explore it and bring back random items to help in the war effort either on the ground or in space as well and depending on the condition of the space hulk maybe be able to capture it and add it to the fleet of whatever race your playing as.
