I was thinking of getting my NL army up and going for table top (I only have one squad of NL tacs), recently ive been collecting Blood Angels and ive done this because i seriously want to go Pre-heresy NL (They appeal more to me) and in order to do so i would need Forgeworld so ive been using BA as a starter for painting and games. Im stuck between going for Mark 3 Armour or Mark 4 Maximus...I love both armour patterns But im figuring out the colours. People say Dark Blue with Brass/Gold where others are Dark Blue and silver...if someone could just answer that straight up would help. Still the question remains Mark 3 or Mark 4?
Well if you go for Mk 4 there's plastic bits of this armour in the GW SM range. You can also adapt some Mk 6 bits, like the plastic Raptor, to be Mk 4. Also there are Mk 4 helmets in the Raptor kit as well. With a little bit of thought, and creative mix of bits, you can use Citadel plastics to extend the FW kits and turn a 5-man FW squad into a 10-man characterful squad.
I'd go for a washed out midnight blue and different layers of brass, silver, gold both weathered with ink and rust. See picture reference from HHII: Massacre, specially the terminator got some crazy metallic effects going on and you can also see that there is more then 1 shade of blue in there, even some purples...its all about layers. For the armors, it believe you could mix both...the NL legion never was big on "standards". Have fun.
I am so looking forward to playing. Midnight blue. A question though, will we be able to get cool cosmetics by playing or is all the neat looks going to be behind a pay wall?
My guest is that since the game is pay to look cool, the extra neat will be behind a pay wall. I really prefer that to pay to win. I want to look good and I'm ready to invest for bling bling( specially pink yes pink lightning bolts). But gears with good cosmetics should also be in game as a requisition point reward or such. It been heavily hinted that customization is quite important. Sadly so far they keep using the demo Red units VS Green units instead of far more sexy and fashion savvy NL.
