So... why can you dodge a successful DBash?

If you dodged it, was it really successful?

It countered the blow, didn't it? Not sure why you wouldn't classify that as successful.

yeah d bash isnt a very good counter if the person spamming light attacks can CLANG against the dbash and then dodge and suffer no punishment, why bother doing anything other than fast attack in this case?

Even if that was the case then it would still mean death to melee.

Bhvr looks at it only from perspective of melee vs melee fights which dont happen, as soon as you get stunned or clang 2 times, youre dead if any other enemy was around.

As opposed to.... not clanging? The other guys are still gonna shoot you. The clang almost never matters.

2 clangs is 2 second off your life, enough to be killed by anything.

You just cant afford to be locked in rps as melee vs ranged and you cant simply have ranged without rps counter if thats what this system is based upon.
Basically, itll never work, either melee will be able to ignore rps, or rps will doom melee.

And yet it's worked fine in the past. Not without bugs but without any of the fatal flaws that exist presently.

this is what people tried to explain in alpha/beta

When?? before 1.3 you had melee meta, now you have ranged meta.

While I see where you're coming from, it just seems foolish and lazy to throw your arms up in the air and say "Damned if you, damned if you don't!"
I absolutely believe that there could be some sort of system that still allows defensive bash but doesn't punish melee users excessively. For instance, something I just thought of a variable amount of stun-time based on the Force of the two weapons. It would, in my mind, kill 2 birds with one stone as it makes little sense how a Power Axe functions identically in a DBash to a combat knife.
