Too many resources? Are they worried animated faces would bog down the servers? It shouldn't be that expensive. It wouldn't be like cloth physics that would need to be calculated and simulated with every movement. It'd just be facial animations applied to the rig that would only takes up as much data as it needs to. I'm not asking for much, I just want my Ork to look like its shouting WAAAGH! when he inevitably does so. If they're worried about getting the facial animations right then just look at animations for Orks in DOW2 or Space Marine for reference.
Yeah, I would agree it would be a bit of a crapper if they don't have at least a little movement. I recall exactly what was on screen when I remember them chatting about it, so I'll hunt it down and see if he really did say it when I get a chance.
I don't need the Orks to go about a lengthy exposition on how they're going to kill you Just make them move, give their faces some life, hell I'll take faked mouth movements over a static mesh. I may still be learning how all of this stuff actually works in engine, but even I believe it shouldn't be expensive memory wise to add a little bit of animation. Especially when all the Orks have the same face, they'll all have the same facial rigging and animations applied, saving even more memory that way.
I think it is more of a time thing. They probably don't have enough time to work on it and all the gameplay stuff. Maybe post launch they will patch in more stuff but I think they are more focused on delivering working gameplay right now. Plus they had to spend time on what really mattered right? I mean if SM pauldrons were even slightly off in size the world would explode.
Well if that's the case then so be it But I don't want to hear them say "we're not going to do it" because then I'd have to ask them for more Orks faces to make up for the fact that none of them get rigs or animations and will essentially be static meshes that interchange with blend shapes
Haha, yeah, good point. Why would lobotomies even work on Orks? Do they actually have brains in the traditional sense?
