Big shoota could be a HB equivalent without suppression You can mount it on low cover The deffgun could be the suppression weapon but you can't mount it (Cause it already is mounted on your shoulder ) You can't move while shooting You can shoot immediately but you get a heavy accuracy lost for the first 2 sec if you do so It's stronger and has high rate of fire
Also, the big shoota will probably only be available on basic boyz, not on lootaz; so it's like a heavy bolter, but on a much more mobile platform.
I don't get why sluggas can't double as a melee weapon. When using a choppah and slugga the boy should swing both periodicly. Orks are known to use their guns as clubs in a good stuck in fight.
Having recently completed (again) the Ork campaign in Retribution, I always loved to see the Kaptin occasionally hit enemies with his big shoota.
i guess cause of the same reason why the assaults dont kick or punch it requires additional animation
Well, they actually are not doing the orks yet right? If they are not, there is plenty of time to do a bit more of work of animation. Not that they have to, but It could be nice to see that implemented in the game.
oh well we dont know how much work and money flows into a single animation and to my knowledge they are or were mocaping for orks this month i say better have only the basics for launch and expand later on with a general asymetric basic among the factions for sure
They said that they had found someone/something close to Orks and that they would be mo-capping them this month.
It just feels like ork fans are missing out on something thats very orky. Maybe down the road something will get added I can always hope.
It's because they want this to be a game with WH40K skins instead of being a WH40K game. Shoota/Slugga should be the same Basic Class, with the Ork having a Shoota, Slugga and Choppa as default, allowing them to be the typical Ork and leap into melee or get into close range where their less accurate weapons should have the advantage against Imperial/Eldar equivalents, at least in terms of TTK. Then, depending on how players customize their wargear they should become further specialized as a Shoota or Slugga. If the Slugga has lower Strength than the Bolt Pistol on the TT then yes, it should deal less damage per shot and be less accurate/have less range, in return for having a higher magazine capacity and faster firing rate that ultimately gives it a lower TTK than the Bolt Pistol. Spoiler For example: Bolt Pistol TTK vs Shoota Boy: 1.2-sec, 7 Bolts, 0.2-sec Fire Rate, 12 Bolt Magazine Slugga TTK vs Tactical Marine: 1-sec, 11 Shots, 0.1-sec FR, 30 Shot Mag Accuracy difference: Bolt Pistol 3.4-cm spread at 24-meters, Slugga 3.4-cm spread at 18-meters. Range difference: BP max DMG to 24-meters, 2/3 to 48-meters, 1/3 beyond 48-meters, Slugga max DMG to 18-meters, 2/3 to 36-meters, 1/3 beyond 36-meters. Bolter TTK vs Shoota: 1.5-sec, 7 Bolts, 0.25-sec FR, 30 Bolt Mag Shoota TTK vs Tactical: 1.25-sec, 11 Shots, 0.125-sec FR, 60 Shot Mag Accuracy difference: Bolter 3.4-cm spread at 48-meters, Shoota 3.4-cm spread at 27-meters. Range difference: Bolter max DMG to 48-meters, 2/3 to 96-meters, 1/3 beyond 96-meters, Shoota max DMG to 27-meters, 2/3 to 54-meters, 1/3 beyond 54-meters. Ork weapons should also typically have more recoil than Imperial counter-parts, which combines with the higher FR of Ork weapons to further reduce their ranged effectiveness, especially at long ranges. Less damage than a Bolt Pistol. Regardless of what DAKKA the Orks use for their Sluggas, it matches neither the Strength nor Armor Penetration of a Bolt Pistol; ergo, less damage. What they can do is what they should do with all the Rogue Trader Items and such: make them skins. At the base/default level there would only ever be one set of stats for a weapon like the Shoota, with the players themselves customizing the weapon's capabilities via modifications, whiles far as appearance, players would be able to play for different skins, instead of weapons that have different skins but also have different stats.
