Should Striking scorpions be able to fight melee classes in a stand up fight?

Thanks for the explanation of netcode...

Again I don't really have a ton of problems in straight up melee, sure the force isn't there, but if you're trying to win via clang war you're probably doing it wrong anyway..

Also if Warp Spiders are brought in our team composition is going to change to like 88% Warp Spiders with a sprinkling of DA and Warlock.. It would still be amazing.

I believe, and always have thought, that the Mandiblaster was going to be aimed as a tool for disengaging more effectively. I think bE is gunning for the backline infiltrator/assassin type role. That said, it would provide more flexibility in a straight up fight.

Just gotta bug the devs like crazy for extra weapons/gear!

fun tactic I use as an ork for melee here:

If I think I might lose I keep a window or ledge at my back so I can just back roll out as soon as I d bash or just need an out. Usually results in someone spamming fast attacks to clang off the wall and bounce back buying me a few seconds to recover. Plus if they chase I now have field and initiative advantage as I can blast them with a gun while they recover from a drop or go through the vault animation.

Striking Scorpions should indeed be the Eldar Brawlers. They have heavy armour, should have higher toughness, and should have Mandiblasters for that extra punch in melee.

Thanks to the weapon tier system, however, you are at a real disadvantage. Yes, you can take a SM with a cash shop powerfist head on, but if you make a single mistake, you die immediately. The real bummer is the lack of Mandiblasters + Eldar Power Fists, aka. Scorpion's Claw.

In my opinion, we should give all weapons available to their respectable classes without the grind/cash shop to unlock them. But, that's my biased thinking. I'd be just satisfied if Scorps could have a Power Fist while Banshees could pick between a few of their exarch weapons, ala Mirrorswords / Executioner / basic Power Sword & Pistol?

Of course this brings me to the rant about weapon selection for all classes, since - again, imho - Dire Avengers should have the option of sword & pistol. Sure, leave it to their "veteran" class to have shimmershield or boosted up diresword, but now I'm getting way off-topic... DAs would still be at a disadvantage compared to shieldbros, heavy armour melees or JPAs.

Summing it up; Yes! Striking Scorpions should be the heavy (brawler) infantry with stealth, while Banshees are shock infantry. Banshees should be a touch faster and more agile, but have lighter armour & toughness. And banshees have power swords, unlike SS.

Yes, they should, but it should depend on how well they can use their Mandiblasters, which should be a built-in short range attack that fires when the Scorpion performs certain melee actions like Basic/Charge Attacks or D.Bashes.

    For example:
Assault Marine Chainsword TTK vs Scorpion: 1.8-sec, 6 Basic Attacks, 0.3-sec Attack Speed
Scorpion Chainsword TTK vs Assault Marine: 2.4-sec, 8 BAs, 0.3-sec AS
Scorpion Mandiblaster TTK vs Assault Marine: 5-sec, 11 Shots, 0.3 to 0.35-sec Fire Rate

After landing 2 shots with the Mandiblaster the Scorpion would only need 6 BAs or 1.8-sec to Down the Assault, evening their TTKs. 2 more shots would reduce the TTK to 1.5-sec.

Because of the Scorpion's Heavy Aspect Armor slowing them down(in comparison to other Eldar) they should have only a slight ground speed advantage over the Assault, who would have either their Jump Pack or Storm Shield to help against the Scorpion.

Because of the Scorpion Chainsword being AP6 vs the SM's AP-, the Scorpion would be able to deal 16.7% of their damage through the SM's Block, which should replace clang.
