Shameless Eldar wannabe

Discussion in 'Eldar' started by XenoFire, Oct 4, 2015.

  1. Yo, I got a guild, the guild is okay being Eldar. I know nothing(kinda) about Eldar. (I played all the DoW games, and know a good bit about the universe, lots of books and such, no Eldar books tho.) I know you guys are in sore need of more players/guilds for this faction, and I do like Eldar, just don't know the lore really well. Since this is an important thing for a guild leader, I'm swallowing my pride, and meeting all of you half-way. Please educate me on all things space elf, and I promise I'll aid in the war effort.

So, just spit reference links, info, and lore fluff at me. :p

I have the 40K wiki app. It's rather pretty and has everything in it. It's a good place to start.

  3. Alrighty, I'm already way ahead of you on the wiki, but thanks buddy. Didn't know there was an app for that, will look into it.

just read your way through as much of the eldar forum as you can mate

there are threads like your asking for lore info ... like http://forum.eternalcrusade.com/threads/someone-give-me-the-skinny.46338/

and other nuggets hidden everywhere amongst the threads

though the simple truth is it doesnt really matter if you became a "Eldar lore master" ... since EC will put its own spin on things in many regards the best thing to do is wait until the factions released and "balanced" and then play the hell out of it until you know how it works lol

Lore important to the game is the fact that Eldar classes will likely be focused on certain roles in combat. Ergo teamwork is a pretty big must for Eldar if we are to succeed, IF they do it right which we will see. The other three English guilds are Myriad Shrines, Swordwind and finally Anno Shem. All of which I believe are "casual" guilds, which I'm not entirely sure what the exact implications of that is, but from my experience in PS2 is that Casuals just run around in a horde and zerg everything, so hopefully that's NOT what it manifests as I don't think we could win like that with the amount of players we have.

Also another reference to the "fluff" No matter what ANYONE says... Biel Tan IS the best craftworld

If you want to discuss anything else lorewise just send me a PM, I'll be happy to help!

Hah, don't worry. Zerging around like a sperglord isn't my intention. It's not what I had my Planetside 2 outfit do, either.

  7. Thanks folks. I've been so adamant about getting to know more Eldar lore because all those 'other' factions like their leaders to be on the higher tiers of fluffy I've noticed, just assumed Eldar would be the same, but for the most part you guys seem like the most laid back of the factions. I like that, it fits.
  8. Ohhhhh so derez a new Eldar around 'eh?

I'z Rokdak...kinda loik an ambassador ov sortz....heh heh yea datz it..ambassador...

Gimme a hug you big green monster!!! :D

This is Rokdak, he likes us. He's kind of an Orky mascot for the Eldar pages.

On the subject of lore, here is a history of the development of Eldar lore:

    http://www.beastsofwar.com/warhammer-40k/empire-fall-development-eldar-part-1/

If you're interested to know how the lore developed this is the best history-of-the-history I've found :)

You can pick up an Eldar Codex second hand for not very much, so long as you don't get the latest one, if you're on a budget; pretty much any of them will give you a flavour of the lore as GW tend to carry over (read: copy paste *cough*) a lot from Codex to Codex. The Warhammer Wiki and Lexicanum are useful for an overview but they can be publically edited and primary sources are always to be preferred. I use them myself as a refresher sometimes, not saying they're all bad, but a Codex will give you the lore you desire.

Here's a thread I made for reference purposes on the Phoenix Lords:

    https://forum.eternalcrusade.com/th...d-exarchs-work-a-handy-reference-guide.45777/

Otherwise, welcome to the Eldar side :D "Empty your lore brains onto the page" is a bit broad in scope for me, but I like it when people want to know more about Eldar, so if you have any specific questions feel free to ask and / or PM me and I'll give it a shot :)

It's not that I know all the lore ... just that I want to :D So, I have a bit of reference material.
