@Keidivh Returning the gesture somewhat, Avilex also pocketed his hand cannon, but didn't holster his power mace, as he also walked closer to the commissar, with Thane behind him at his right side, the dark eyes on the spiked helmet staring unnervingly at the commissar, while his body languegde was that of a man brimming with violence. on the other hand, Avilex seemed was very calm in the situation, "A commissar you say, i have some respect for your kind, the unrelenting backbone set to sequester the weak from the ranks. A pius figure striking fear into the weak. And i am glad to hear you are Valhallan, i dont remember your kind attacking the holy redemption during the lost war" Avilex stopped, now that they where but a few paces apart. "Now, how do i know you are speaking the truth, and what can you do for the crusade of the red redemtion?" Avilex said, keeping his tone controlled and attemptive beguiling, a semi sardonic smile visible from beneath his flaming crown.
<Derraesh's Reavers> With the sudden arrival of hostiles, Derreash yelled in Eldaren (to prevent the humans from reacting to her plan) to everyone in the warband "Take cover, we'll end their miserable lives and take whoever survives without risking our lives. Armadazar, Kahrthara: Take out those fools on the wall. Aeskeri, take down the big one before it gets too close." Everyone in the band understood what was asked of them, as everyone went looking for cover with the implicit understanding that only a fool would stand out in the open. Izerasira, Tazatarin and Kaeqar didn't intend to issue any return fire given their lack of suitable weaponry for the task and that charging with fifteen weapons levelled at them was likely tantamount to suicide. Of those that were going to attack after finding cover, the Scourge levelled her Dark Lance at the gigantic abomination, a weapon meant for Mon'Keigh vehicles being turned upon a freak even for their kind. Vel'Tarqe herself would level her Terrorfex at the group of humans on the wall, while Armadazar and Kahrthara would level rifle and cannon at the fools on the wall, letting their weapons unleash a crystalline, toxic rain upon the Mon'Keigh.
Remus cursed. "Aim, you fools! They are unarmed, but they are many!" The team fired upon the Mob, still aiming mainly at the Priest, while Remus continued to channel power. Just a little more.... Remus thought. After a few seconds of channeling power, he unleashed his attack as a wave of Corrupting energy over the crowd of Emperor-worshippers, hoping to induce madness and open their minds to Chaos. (OCC: The powers of Chaos shoot from Remus' hand, in the form of an area-of-affect attack that mutates the minds and souls of those affected by it. If they won't join Chaos, he'll MAKE them repent.)
Ulysses comes to halt and raises his fist when they realize the sounds of gun fight origin from direction they are heading to. A hand signal later the group fans out and uses any nearly cover to steady themselves against. Following behind the group Celest, who doesn't share others history of serving on the Imperial Guard, lags behind on reactions but quickly reads the situation as others take cover. She unhooks her climbing hook and swings it to closest open window, climbing to first floor room. Laspistol drawn, she scans the room as she pulls her inside. After quick check she preps her long-las to support others. Ken scoots next to Ulysses, peeking over the cover to identify the source and culprits of fighting. "Cult." "...Shit." This was what he had wanted to avoid. Something had drawn the mob away, so naturally going to opposite direction would keep you out of trouble. But instead they were drawn towards it, to witness the anarchy again. Same cycle repeating itself. Anywhere he goes, same sight awaits him. Those following symbol using their power against masses. It was like that in service of the Eagle. It was same after the Eagle fell. It is same now. It will be same till end of times. Endless cycle of violence. For meaningless symbols, ideals, gods, masters. They have witnessed them. They remember them. They can't forget them. There are two cults in the Sanctus; those who devout themselves to the Eagle and those who follow the Star. All unaligned fall under their non-existent mercy. Beside the symbol, there are no differences between the two cults. Both are homicidal fanatics, justifying any action in name of their symbol. No reasoning works against them. No deviation from their ideal tolerated. They still hang on to their gods, their masters. Dangerous people. But often their fanaticism leaves them blind to what happens around them. The outpost seems intact, unlooted even. Tempting target. But with the mob of people and the cult, there is too much trouble to try to obtain it. Greed is deadly sin. Ken glances back to the others. Hand signal later they begin to backtrack away from the outpost. They witnessed the fight, their duty was filled again. There is no need to further involve yourself to this. Mob of people, cult, they are but a drop in the ocean in this purgatory of suffering.
@Grall_Stonefist Vail was amazed to see that this was working. She was fully expecting him to say something along the lines of 'KILL! MAIM SCOURGE!' But this was a most pleasant surprise. Of course they were no where near out of the raving cult of fanatics yet, and she knew she had to tread carefully. She steeled her voice and suppressed her nerves which threatened to get the better of her. But the sudden familiar stench of her aide was surprisingly reassuring. She smiled at the priest. "What I can do is bring order back to this city, and bring under the control of the Imperium and our Sovereign Emperor. As is my duty to Him. I am currently gathering any and all surviving Imperial Guard remnants, and we will slowly push out the taint from within. What, may I ask, are your intentions here?"
@Keidivh "Our purpose is to purge every human soul in the Galaxy so that they look perfect in the eyes of the Emperor" Avilex answered. "Now you claim great many desireable virtues, even if you might just be talking in fear, grand us a token of your virtues behavior, and your little splinter group might be remembered in the oncoming crusade." Avilex then comtenuid, it would be a fight at the moment to purge This guards group, they claimed virtue and Imperial loyality, and dident have the avid stink of curruption and deviancy, if not dead or fallen later, perhaps a few of them could one day garb themselves in rightius red.
@Grall_Stonefist Vail stiffened at his final comment. So close to walking away from this without a fuss too. But she couldn't just surrender supplies to this group. It would tear apart her men's faith in her, and they didn't have anything to spare. "Unfortunately all's we have to offer is our service, as is our sacred duty to the Imperium. Now we have wasted enough time with this, every moment wasted is one the enemy takes to gather strength. Emperor guide you on your journey priest. I'm sure we'll meet again." She gave a curt nod towards the zealot before walking back towards her own force, Griffin's face lined with suspicion as her finger danced over the trigger. "What's the word boss? They on our side?" Jinxie asked, apprehension in her voice as she looked over the fanatical redemptioninsts. "I don't think they're on anyone's side dearie. Now come on, lets search this area. But be ready." Everyone seemed to pick up on her meaning easily enough, and kept their weapons at hand as they prepared to search. Never knew if things could go south.
Avilex smile turned from sardonic to sardistic as the commisar turned around, indeed his men would also looks wierdly to him if he acted Like nothing, but Then again, Avilex would also have to question himself if such an event happened. Imidiatly after she turned, not letting too much space get between them, "Now have you told your men you disdain for the Emperors church, that you rather turn your back than assist te holy church. That a mere material good ranks above the god Emperor commisar." Avilex said taking a single step forward, his own fighters also tensing up.
@Grall_Stonefist Vail simply gave an irritated to sigh to the priests bantering. Pointless rhetoric and busy talk that always seemed to get in the way of the real issues. Although this one promised a bit more fatal danger than most other situations "You know it's funny Redemptionist. Here I am, trying to retake this city in the name of the glorious God-Emperor, and here you are, trying to block me at every turn. How do your men feel about you interfering in the Emperors work? These 'material goods' were made specifically for the Hammer of the Emperor, and will be used to carry out their true purpose. To purge the enemies in the Emperor. Leave us to our task priest, and go about your own." At this point all of her troops were positioning themselves, Kolbe and Ellen moving up while the rest stayed back and readied their weapons, a flare of anger in their eyes for having their loyalty questioned. Jurgen remained as impassive as ever, casually standing with his melta-gun now in hand, and barely noticeably aiming in the direction of the zealots.
"We stand here under the Emperors infinite mercy, trying to converse, you not only refuse to assist, that can be forgiven, but now you insult me and my acolytes, insult us and claim surperiority" Avilex said, with a theatrical step and a raised hand. "Now the Emperors light has shown me truth, and you are far from the worst sinner in this abandoned city, but deviancy and insults against the holy church cannot go unanswered, but seeing my good mood and a sign from the Emperor himself i propose something far more civil, a better class of violence." His open hand gesturing towards Thane, "My best, against your best, no weapons." he proposed with a smile. Though his warriors stood silent, their masks and voluminous robes hiding emotions. Though tenseness was answered by mirroring tenseness from Avilex own fighters
