Nope sorry mate simply cannot agree with that satement in any way. Space Marine had no cover system, and the melee switch from ranged, not to mention that the options of melee combat in space marine wipes out anything gears ever thought of, the only similarity is the fact they are both third person shooters. I felt no similarity at all with the two games, having known of 40K long before gears.
I agree with you there. The ranged and melee combat systems have what feels like a seamless and independent fighting styles. Plus, where else do you get to use an assault jump pack?
Well, the melee-ranged switching was quite unique, but Space Marine did have a hefty dose of Gears AND God of War.
"He who speaks does not know, he who knows does not speak" You will often find that such people know less then nothing in such matters. I remember Total Biscuit saying something about beating anyone who says "SM is a rip off from Gears" to death with a fist edition codex.
Funny thing actually, when I first got SM my nephew was in the room *looked at the TV and said "Their just copying Gears" lol I don't even remember responding just an internal Facepalm
BWARRRRGHU!! WH40k came WAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAY before GOW ... just like the GOW figurines you can buy are copying WH40k miniatures... right1!!!!2!!4
