Plasma Cannon cares not for open ground, it takes your soul no matter what false object you stand behind...

Like i said in other related threads - veteran classes and special classes/vehicles added later on in the game should be cooldown-based, with cooldown-reducing inventory items for sale for those specific classes OR cooldown-reducing points to be unlocked in the skill tree. The only exception i'd think of that should be really limited per match would be extremely powered units like named characters and such.

Right now, the veteran classes are just barely above the level or their regular brethren, so why the hell would they be limited.

How about every 10 deaths awards a vet life as well or something? In either case, both sides get moderate access to powerful classes, while not being able to spam them/monopolize them.

    A definite no to this.

    Infinite lives.

LSM (all, I imagine but I play LSM exclusively as of launch)Veteran classes are certainly worthless at the moment, being able to survive 2 -3 more shots is nothing and there's not much else to spend the points on, they aren't enough of an advantage to justify losing redeploy functionality or the more cautious play style to prevent dying horribly and wasting 1 of 2 lives.
  7. Vets should probably have 20 more Armor/Toughness/Health than base characters.

Baby steps, test this and go from there.

The question is what are the veteran classes supposed to be? They're certainly not elites, which are supposed to be Terminators/Librarians, but they're not quite basic classes. They're an awkward place between the two, making them as rare/slightly less rare than elites, but more rare than regular classes.

I like the idea of infinite respawns as a veteran. Why? Because it makes someone want to pick something up and stick with it. It adds a sense of progression that spikes off at a point, giving you a specialization that you wouldn't normally have.

If I play a Dire Avenger, I want it to be known that I'm a beast Dire Avenger. I want every single life to have that Burning Rune on my forehead. Likewise, I play Space Marine Ground Assault. I want to see my Iron Halo of the Stalwart shining like a giant red target over my head. That's not the case right now, though.

Right now, the veterans are either closely guarded or used haphazardly. The 'I feel like playing this now,' spur-of-the-moment choice, instead of the iconic 'it's time to take the gloves off" choice that I'd like to see.

Veterans should be that specialized symbol showing that you know how to play the character, not playing it and hoping/praying that a Plasma Cannon doesn't one-shot you from half way across the map. That's not what's happening, and I doubt giving them blanket stats would help the situation much.

Vets feel to weak to have such a limited number of respawns.

I say either increase the power of vets or increase the number of spawns per match.

The vets are very very limited as is you can only have 1 vet loadout and the power that they have over standard loadouts is very very limited on top the the respawn limit.

Really the entire vet system needs a overhaul.

    *edit*

To those who think that the power creep is to much with this need to realize.... You kill vets all the time without realizing it because how little power they actually have... I can't count the number of vets I've gunned down with my shoota just to go "huh that was a vet sucks for him"

    TL;DR

Raise the power of the vets and allow 2 loadouts or remove the spawn limit since you're limited to 1 vet loadout which is a constraint enough.
