I was just over all curious where we people stood on the subject. I was thinking if we did a series of polls for/on different ideas/Question/Feed Back, the community would give some feed back that could be measured. Just an idea to get some ideas.
I've been railing against I-frames since early alpha. One of several basic game design conceits that just need to be rolled back; not tinkered with, not adjusted, not balanced, but just acknowledged as a mistake and owned up to.
Well SM/CSM have many more iframes then Orks/Eldar. The latter had most of them removed just before launch, but as far as I know SM/CSM still have all theirs. Removing them altogether will probably punish the Marine factions more in melee.
So damn weird hearing "iframe" outside of html. Yes, get rid of them! I get confused every time i hear anyone say it!
I don't understand this topic. You want to remove a feature that improves a character's survivability? Meanwhile there are threads complaining about OHKO weapons, threads complaining that melee is OP, and threads complaining just in a general sense. The roll works just fine as it is, and this community is never going to be happy because everyone has to complain about the thing that killed them last. Unless you've got a reasonable alternative to iframes on rolls there's no point in asking for removal or calling for a poll to get community feedback.
I see your point but I also stated the window could be shortened, I.E a reasonable alternative. Not sure why rolling/flipping/jumping prevents AoE damage, and get grenades to fall off.
The average player lifespan is already short as is. Having some way of mitigating damage for at least a short time is pretty much a necessity. It's a matter of countering AoE, grenades, and breaking line of sight.
I mean take Eldar for example. We do a bloody flip. It seems slower than a roll and also makes us a bigger target than a roller. If you were to remove I-frames then you need to lower the lunge distances for BOTH fast and strong attacks. Increase the speed of the roll. Increase the distance covered in a roll. 2 fast attacks or 1 power attack is all it takes to catch up. Plus I-frames are the only way I can survive the bloody Plasma Cannon suicides. You would need to overhaul melee to compensate for this change, ranged would be even more fucked in melee then they are now. Not to mention Banshees would lose All uniqueness about their agility.
