Q&A with the new EC writer.

Shortstories are good, but not enough to satisfy W40 fans :) What we need is in-game events and constant fluff about it :) Would it be daily news or any kind of information about events, which eventualy evolves into new shortstory from time to time. At least thats how I imagine it personally.

P.S. Warhammer online, EVE, WoW,AoC - old had even novels about game related areas and heroes :)

Ohhh, so they still have 2 unpublished stories?
I wonder when they will be released.

I'm disappointed that you didn't send questions like Galen's, Krokilla's and Noromiz's. I feel those are reasonable concerns. =(
  6. They are, but it's a bit harsh on Christian. He hasn't published anything for EC yet and already we're questioning if he's going to pull a Goto or a Ward* on us? ;)

Also, the questions all directly or indirectly boil down to "How are you going to balance the fact that all of the factions want to look cool versus their rivals by being portrayed as stronger, but that all of the factions have players invested in them who will hate being portrayed as weaker in other factions' stories?"

While Christian might say "I know, right? I've got a headache already..." I suspect the only answer he can really give is "Wait and see."

*Matt, not Noah. Just to be clear.

    Krokilla's wasn't thattttt harsh, I think... =p
  8. You should at least actually read the Eldar stories before jumping to conclusions, on one at least they do actually own some Space Marines. If you hadn't noticed, a lot of your fellow Eldars can be especially salty, best to not take opinions second hand.

To be fair, I think my question were directed more towards GW for allowing such things to happen, as they are usually VERY protective of their lore (Fusion Guns not being allowed to have blue streams to show they are "hotter"/more advanced than the Imperial Melta Guns is but one of many examples of this), but this is for some reason rarely seen in the stories, especially those by Matthew Ward and C.S. Goto (Goto also seems to have a "tortur female Eldar" fetish, but that isn't important here).
I have no problem with "artistic license" and as stated in my question a lot of these things could probably happen, but the fact that such atrocities to the established lore seems to happen on a regular basis is what I am annoyed about.
The fact that Biel-tan moved down two Imperial Sector Fleets and a random number of Space Marines is also a bit "far out".

Anyhow, I still wonder if it is true that Ward and Goto are the same person... Someone said that long ago and argued that no company could possibly hire two writer who are this bad (the chances are slim, I admit)...

I don't really think they were questions that needed answering. Of course he's aware of the bias toward humans as well as the fact that they aren't necessarily the most interesting faction even though they're the most popular. It's his job to know these things. It's one thing to write a story and have GW ok it, but it's another to be hired one to craft a story and direct a narrative. And I don't think it's fair to ask someone if they intend to knowingly destroy the fluff. The team has shown that they do read up on the fluff, and they're part of who evaluates someone like Christian. We have to assume that he, the writer for a 40k game, is well versed on writing in-universe, including some of the stories that the community hates overall i.e. Goto. While GW own the IP, the EC/BEhavior team is most likely the primary group doing the hiring. He just has to write within the confine of GW's limits.

Ivan got similar flak for no reason.

I would have liked to know how he plans to maneuver around the mutable fluff involved in 40k while also creating a story that's engaging. With all the ret-conning GW does, it has to be difficult to write a story without worrying that it will be nullified in a year or two.
