That's actually a perfect solution, if we can get enough people to use it. How fun would pugstomps be for guilds if, whenever the pugs figure out they're up against a guild, they just stop playing entirely and go and do other things until the guild wins with zero opposition? No insults in cross-faction. No forum rants. Just a plain, and simple message. It is not fun to play against you. So we refuse to provide you with opponents or acknowledge your existence.
Speaking of... https://1d4chan.org/wiki/Powergamer Dealing with powergamers: "Just don't play with them and make certain that other people are aware of the sort of opponent they are too, so your friends can make the same decision. If you get no enjoyment out of the game there is no point in playing, wargaming is not a job or sport that requires your absolute commitment. Your opponent will find that they have no-one to play with either. Whoop-di-do if they've got an unbeatable spam list if no-one will give them the smug satisfaction of beating people stupid enough to play against them."
I used to do this very thing, a couple of weeks post launch. At launch, clans were getting into full swing, recruiting and queuing to demonstrate their abilities. Some gathered strength quickly, others faded into memory. Some of them just became an absolute bloodbath to play against. To the point of being pointless to even attempt. So I am guilty of dropping out of matches that featured large clan stacks. I even boycotted the entire Eldar faction for roughly 2 months. But that queue timer kept increasing. People were leaving, for various reasons, and my "preference filter" was doing more harm than good. I could either spend eternity trying to find a match I had a chance of winning at, or suck up losing constantly to a more organized group. Neither of which are fun. The best option (in my case) was to gain distance entirely. I played other games instead. Where I was (and currently am) having fun. I play EC from time to time, but not nearly as frequently as I used to. I mainly only check out the new patches to see if there is anything to keep me playing for more than 2 matches before going elsewhere again. With the current population issue, boycotting clans will mean fewer matches for everyone. Which will increase frustration. Something that EC does not need more of.
To be fair, Eternal Crusade is not a fun game to play for newbies due to all the pubstomping going on :/ The game also really lacks a tutorial which explains how the game work (stats, loadouts, progression, etc.) and what the objectives are on the different types of maps.
Yup. Well, I guess maybe don't complain about newbies leaving in droves then, since you know why they're doing it.
I think it was inevitable that the pop would come back down... However, I really think it was suicide to open up F2P in the "bash & bolter" meta. Anyone that enjoys melee is bound to get severely frustrated with the game as a new player. They really should have fixed bash & bolter first, at least. I really hope they are aware of it. We've had several threads about it.
http://forum.eternalcrusade.com/threads/please-expedite-the-free-to-play-option.63962/ Some of us called it, you know. Before it went F2P. I mean, yeah, I COULD write out my entire reasoning process for why I say the things I do. And in fact I used to. People complained about the essay-length posts and demanded a TL;DR. So now I just write the TL;DRs since no one cared to actually read my enormous posts.
Meh who cares now anyway, the Developers catered to the wrong crowd and the population will fizzle out because of it, you were warned on multiple occasions about it aswell. F2P could of been amazing if Bhvr had listened and prepped properly, instead most newbies just found themselves fodder for the tryhards of a dying game. PS. There's always BF1, it has melee too ya know, strangely more satisfying aswell.
Exactly. I really think that should be the top priority for the devs right now, to create a real tutorial and enhance the new player experience. I myself almost left after 20 mns of playing because it was really frustrating, but now I'm so glad that I stuck around and gave this game a few other chances cos I'm really having a great time now
