  1. If (pfft, more like when) Tau get added to Eternal Crusade, then I want to play a Tau, not one of the auxillary races.
    Vintage likes this.

Well, having the Kroot at start would ensure we have a melee class, since every other race will have one too.
About the Ethereals,i seriosuly disagree with having them playable.I mean the loss of ONE Ethereal would break the entire battle,we would lose basically, now imagine with dozens of Ethereals running about.Besides, they dont use the blades for fighting, its for a sort of Cerimonial duel that may look like sword fighting but its not.
Ethereal guards should stay guarding the Ethereals i guess.
  3. Maybe ethereals can be on of dem hero classes the devs were talking about.

That's the old ethereals rules and to be honest it didn't make any sense, now the opponent gets an additional victory point if he kills your ethereal, now we even have this bad boy http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Aun'shi#.UsmWu_TuKao murdering orks left and right with his honour blade, i really wouldn't mind to see guards as our melee class and ethereals as support.

    Etherals....as hero classes.....right no.

The Ethereals serve as "philosopher kings", and guide the other castes, as well as alien member-races of the Tau empire, towards the enlightenment of the Tau'va, the Greater Good. They serve as the undisputed rulers of the Tau Empire. Their unique role is a combination of spiritual and political duties, and their declarations shape and steer every action of the Tau Empire. Were an Ethereal to order a Tau to kill himself, he would be met with instant obedience.[6] Ethereals themselves rule from the Ethereal Council, with the Ethereal Supreme being the highest ranked of the Caste. They are in turn protected by the Ethereal Guard.
  6. Still a thought

Hmm,yes its still a thought, but with the Kroot being such an iconic melee auxiliary i belive the game should rather use them instead of Ethereals/Ethereal Guard.
This brings me a fun thought. If several races were added, one should have to pick between one of them right?
I mean,it would be strange to die as a Fire warrior and respawn as a vespid.
  8. All for pure Tau! Farsight only uses proper Tau!
In all seriousness, I don't mind seeing the auxiliary races being put in(Of Kroot, Vespids and Gue'Vesa) if they actually kind of have slightly different attributes.

Call me simple but I went with Tau, Kroot and Vespid.... One big reason was how they worked together in the Ultramarine novel "Courage and Honour"

Sometimes Lore (and logic) must be broken to provide better game experience. And this is just the perfect case. Respawning itself is already "strange" and I would see it as unfair as a Tau would be never able to defend himself. But we do not even know so far about class system.

What if it's like in other MMO's where you can't just "switch" classes? What if it's more pre-determined once you walked a way you cannot turn back? I.E. You became a Tau Pathfinder, you cannot become a Tau Firewarrior anymore. You became a Warp Spider, you cannot become a Dire Avenger no longer.

We do not know how the Class System will exactly work out. But if class changes are as easy as I think (just play as a class and unlock stuff, like Space Marine) and then change as you like, then it should be also inter-race within a faction. Kroot and Vespid should be looked at as Hero Characters and Classes, not like an own faction. Just as Devastator and Assault are classes for the Space Marines.

Because for the Eldar it would be also weird if you become a Warp Spider Exarch and suddenly respawn as a Dire Avenger, as Exarchs are known to be "stuck" in their aspect shrine.
