Where do you stand on adherance to the WH40K lore for the game?

  2. Doubt that would happen really...

I've met with and talked to some of the guys who write lore content as well as some of the studio artists of Games Workshop at Games Days. And from what I gather, they find any form of fan hate, backlash or any arguments, example of one revolving around Imperial Guard Miniature Size compared a Space Marine miniature for example, to be utterly bizarre and confusing. Their too concerned with their work to worry about complaints form the small vocal hardcore. Every fantasy and science fiction universe has the hardcore and every one had conflicting lore as a result of writers and people who make content for it don't have "maintaining established lore" on their minds, what is on their minds usually revolves around a passion or a commitment, either doing a commission to get paid or because they have a motive or a passion behind their work. In the case of Warhammer 40 000, it's often a love for the hobby itself and the races they are working on. Or in the case of other Sci-fi, like Star Trek (used to be btw)... it's because they want to convey a message.

Would be nice if they took into consideration every little nick picked thing, but often people who write the stuff are not as obsessive as those who treat it as scripture. Though personally I feel just brushing the hardcore fans off isn't the answer, seems a little inconsiderate and slack. When people have the world of their creation on their shoulders, they should bear the responsibilities associated with it, which includes actually talking to the hardcore fans about their concerns. I know all the other people who work with Games Workshop's IP do, like the game developers who make the video games and FFG who make the pen and paper games and GW's IP is often not the only thing they have to work on or deal with and still they manage to make the time, why can't the people working directly at GW?

Lets keep the lore as close as we can, but we know that gameplay comes first. Lore wise, any Guardsmen who fight against demons usually get executed. If that happened after every game where my guy is brain-lazered, I'd get pissed.

changes to lore should only occur when not doing so would be detrimental to gameplay. such as having to submit wour armour to an artificer for repairs and your weapons to serfs for cleaning after each engagement, for the first example off the top of my head. but wherever possible, stay true to canon.
we've all seen what happens when you don't.

Yeah, we get Thunder Hammers doing less damage than a single Lightning claw... In every encounter.
