They might not be poisonous, but I wouldn't recommend trying them in any of your cooking recipes. I put Powder of Xbox into my cereal one day because I was curious, now I need to pay an extra $1.50 if I wanna get all the different kinds of marshmallows.
I read though all those articles, and what I took away from it was: There isn't much difference. People are better with what they like and any advantage can be attributed to the game being designed for one system or another as there has yet to be a true cross platform shooter developed which could be used to accurately collect this data. That is what I read. Yes, I read some opinions, where one writer would take a KB+M over the pad, but that is just a personal preference, and he (she?) say's as much. My respect for you Tyryt, is the only reason I responded to this post, I am really done with this topic now. Good day.
I'd enjoy playing games more on consoles if they allowed keyboard/mouse support right out of the box without having to hack/mod your shit. Playing online games without a keyboard, and doing any twitch actions without a mouse, just feels like fighting against the controls imo.
Comfort and what is ergonomic for the individual is what is important. Does it take longer for a game pad user to get as effective as a base M/KB user? Heck yeah it does. But can a game pad user get as good or better than a M/KB user? Here it becomes of matter of dedication to fine tuning your ability. Sometimes the M/KB has such a lower learning curve that most players can never learn to "fine tune" their actions. They simply rely on instincts and never get better or as good as they could get. The benefit of a game pad as far as training yourself is that the learning curve is steeper and you can measure progress alot easier. The psychology of it allows a player to maintain a higher degree a dedication to continual progress. That being said, there can be excellent players on both sides because it merely becomes an issue of discipline and dedication to performance. If you want to continue arguing with me on this feel free but you're only going to be fighting for your right to be ignorant. I am a subject matter expert on training, ergonomics, and attention to detail. The concepts I bring come from the pistol range with the best shooters in the world and the art can be applied to ANY motor skills that apply to trainable sets of movements. It becomes a martial art in a small sense where discipline and training surpass boundaries. RLTW and Aggressors Beware (If you have no idea where these mottos come from... you don't have the necessary experience to respond to my post)
Jokes aside (if those people were joking, which they probably were) there have been studies you can find everywhere and simple comparisons as to the APM between the two is also an easy look into the argument. People (myself included) showed what backs our side of the argument up and got not a shred of similarly tangible proof from the ones that claim controlers can beat KB+M (on a very competitive level, i deem that first video with that child screaming "please let me kill something" not full on proof cause the KB+M seemed not to be the only advantage, but the skill difference too). But lets put all the above on a shelf shall we, since it seemed a fruitless attempt to come to a consensus throughout the last pages. I will ask you a simple question, do you want aim-assists in Eternal Crusade? Yes or no? If the answer is no (which it should be) then i have nothing against you nor your likeminded individuals. I have nothing against people who kill on their own skills and merits, i have everything against people who are hand holded and basically "given" kills. The PC side of the argument is worried about this, noones arguing with these PC masterace jokes for any other reason. Consoles didnt bully them at school, they didnt cost them their lives or whatever silly thing i cant recall now. Its the aim-assist. Granted there are people like you who go about trying to prove controlers can compete, for everyone one of you there are 10 console players who would rather scream injustice and "let me kill something". This is what the competitive part of the players (in this case the PC part) dreads. Take the Smartgun from AvP2 (or as it was know at the time as the noobgun). You didnt need to do a single thing aside from having the enemy on screen (even if he was invisible) and the gun would autotrack your foe with you having nothing more to do but press the fire button and reap the kills. Granted not all aim-assists are in this category but they are computer assisted nontheless. If the console community agrees to play like the rest of us, with no hand holding and needing to hone their skills thought time and effort i welcome them all into open arms. If they fight for aim-assists and who knows what just so they can stay on the same level of competitiveness as KB+M users then i would rather the PC and consoles parted ways cause that would bring to much drama and potential loss of a big part of the playerbase.
I don't need or want aim assist. It's an insult to skill and dedication to honing a craft. Edit: Also keep in mind I haven't seen any recent studies on the comparison that have been done with "actual" skilled and proven players. Game pad mastery takes years to develop sometimes and there hasn't been a good study done with those who have been training and getting better in the last few years.
Then we are on the same page, if you will work without crutches like the rest of us to become the best at this game i will be more than overjoyed to spill your loyalist brains across the landscapes of Arkhona.
Of course, the ironic thing about this all is that skill doesn't come into it all that much. One side has hardware which makes life easier for them when it comes to games, then proceeds to refer the others as peasants, scum, cancerous growths upon the gaming industry all in the name of "jokes" as they verbally masturbate over how much money they have spent on their machines. Makes one wonder what would happen if they were forced into the same position and the advantage they had paid for, then boasted about as if it made them a better person, was taken away. Of course, that entire post also ignores that the huge number of PC games which have players creating such crutches for themselves non-stop. Googling "planetside 2 aimbot" is proof enough of that, despite how the so-called master race might scream and cry about the existence of auto-assists.
You arent seriously comparing illegal crutches to legal ingame mechanics, please tell me you are joking. You get banned for aimbots, i personally banned hundreds back in my CS 1.6 moderator days.
