Plasma Cannon (technical Thread)

    All of these seem reasonable to me but guys, still, what should be the splash diameter, I think it's important, (EC is gonna be a bit different than THQ SM) ?

  2. The Diameter for Splash should at least be the same as the height of an Astartes in power armour.
    Or, at least, that's my opinion.

  3. I think you are absolutely correct about this. I truly believe that there SHOULD be FF for melee. Here is how I think it should work.

    Give melee several different attacks. A sharp thrust, an overhead chop, a side to side slash. Two out of these three attacks can have pin point accuracy.

    There has also been mention of PC devestators standing around watching a mlee scrim. Whats holding a pc dev back from drawing his own blade and pistol and wading into the fun. Every character should be able to engage in effective melee combat in Eternal Crusade.

    Ok, I was thinking of something bigger, ya know, it's a plasma CANNON after all, a serious piece of equipment, nothing to mess with :) . Small splash wouldn't make it much different from a lascannon which has a completely different function.

    At some point yes but I don't choose to be a havoc to run with my sword like a stupid, I wanna specialise in what I should be the best at - dealing serious dmg with my heavy toys :) .

  6. And yet there is a time and a place for everything. I understand that you want to be able to use your AOE plasma cannon of death in every situation but that doesnt seem reasonable to me at all. Being able to selectively one shot large groups of enemies while leaving friendlies relatively unaffected is a pretty piss poor mechanic and wouldnt be fun for a majority of players who are not using your AOE plasma cannons of death. So in an earnest attempt to reconcile your gameplay wants with overall game balance I believe that a pc dev should have access to a combat knife and a pistol to help round out their gameplay experience without making it OP as fuck.

    I don't know, I was always a fan of narrow cone of specialisation so to speak, you can't be effective at everything, you have to sacrifice something to be better at something else. Hell, I'm not even sure the devastators\havocs will have access to both: bolt pistol and a combat knife, imo only one of these.
  8. There is an easy answer for dealing with AOE FF in Melee. It's called Communication.

    If a PC Dev fires into Melee, he should alert his Battle Brothers to the fact there is incoming fire.
    If they don't disengage in time, with enough warning, then it is their fault not the Devs.

  10. A combat knife and a pistol should be basic equipment on every class. This way there can be at least some small amount of parity when it comes to melee combat.
