?

Melta bombs that deal a percentage of a vehicles maximum health rather than flat values.

  1. Yes

  2. No.

  3. A hybrid model. Some flat damage and some percentage of current HP.

No, no actually, you don't. What you need is to teach people to keep the transports moving. It is very difficult to put a bomb on a moving transport, and only once in a blue moon does a Swooping Hawk take Haywire grenades.

Percentage based damage is a bad thing if you have other sources doing flat base damage.
We can see the same result with trinkets in the current UAT patch. A Chaos traitor Veteran will get far more out of the same 30 LP invested in trinkets than a Revered Eldar DA. Another good example would be the toughness interaction with Armor or Health.

Generally you want to keep things simple and things with vehicles are pretty simple. A meltabomb does the exact same damage to Ork / Chaos and LSM vehicles as it does to a Waveserpent. The main issue stems from the fact that the Eldar vehicle got a HP penalty to "give it flavour". To compensate Eldar got a more potent AV (for which they have to pay mind you) to equalize the field when playing against the other factions. While double meltabombs might influence the TTK too much a simple non percentage based fix would be the 500 times suggested idea to just give them "fusionbombs" which do more damage and fullfill the exact same purpose by reduceing the TTK for all factions to "bomb + x bursts of your melta/fusionweapon" while still giving a 5-10% advantage to eldar for beeing squishy and having the only true specialist on the field.

As the main fire dragon in WP with hastur we always have in our burning wing squad at least one hawk with haywires when its not 2 hawks
And with practice putting a melta bomb on a moving transport is a non eldar transport is not that difficult
  4. Yes. Make it so that all melta and fusion users have to do the same bomb+burst-with-gun to take out a vehicle. Makes things simpler on every side (except orks). Then, let us plant "melta charges" that you could detonate by pressing the grenade button again. This would open up more strategic plays for those who can predict where a vehicle might be(or person if it's planted in a hallway)

people have gotten so complacent to the point we need to invent this kind of nonsense because they cant be arsed to move a damn rhino around. when will drivers get their xp for doing their part ?

Why not make it a percentage of current health, so you can never fully destroy a vehicle with a melta bomb?

Prevents people from dropping and forgetting because they'll need to stay to drop a mag of their favourite flavour of AV onto the vehicle once the bomb detonates. It also gives a slight meta boost to actually running AV weaponry, rather than just a couple of Bolter Bros with melta bombs performing all the roles simultaneously.

    SHHHH!!

    *ahem*

What he means to say is that it's really really really difficult to place a melta bomb on moving Rhinos. :p

I thought of that and dismissed it.

"Let me finish off this vehicle that has 100 hp left with my melta bomb because raisins. *10 damage* ._. "

Yeah, but... so what? Shoot it with your AV gun if you have one. If not, save your bomb for the next vehicle.

Would love to see melta bomb damaged nerffed heavily, to 30 or 40% of a rhinos health, but then have a debuff making it take double damage from all sources for 10 seconds or so. This would make it so everyone could bomb and shoot, even make it better for soft AV weapons to work better like power swords, plasma guns/cannons, etc.

Then double bomb on single target would be wastful, specially if you could burn it down in roughly the same time, so firedragons could be built to take out multiple vehicles or still just be the fastest foot AV ingame. Also since you'd have to wait for the bomb to go off to get the buff, less suicide drops, you'd actually have to fight some.
