Particle Emitters

Discussion in 'Ask the Team' started by Gretchin-lover, Dec 10, 2013.

  1. I hope this game will use advanced tools for particle-emitters, As I cant enjoy my sandwich until I wander the 40k battlefield with flame embers floating around. If not from the intensity of the battlefield. than at least have them emanating from destroyed vehicles....or charred remains of players ;)

  3. not exactly sure what this thread is about - but yes, we will have particles and we will have emitters :) We are also thinking about volumetric particles, not just billboard-ones, but we have not investigated that yet!
The important part of particles will be that they can be turned down and culled if needed for performance increase.

  4. Its pretty straight forward. A question on particle on how will you implement them. Guess everyone has differnet lingo for it, Been apart of gamedev.net since I was in my teens, so thats what Ive always called it. Ah well least i know your "thinkin" about it
  5. Are you looking for an explanation of how particles are generated and controlled? gpu calculated or cpu calculated? Billboards or volumetric?
I am sorry - to me you questions seems like: "Will you have particles or not?" - and that is clearly a yes. On what techniques and or middleware we are going to use is not fully decided yet, prototypes are looking decent and giving the artists quite some control.

Are you asking for phsyx or something? Like the pretty effects of Warframe or Planetside 2 when enabled?

Yes, if you could look at the prototype vid ( lone spacemarine wandering around a fortress already floating around the forum) you see tons of environtmental vfx, the floating ambers are there, and roaring fires too as well as distant flak explosions and anti aircratf lazer defenses

I hope you have alot of particles. When I'm firing my deff gun at a marine I'd love to see a ton of sparks crackle off his power armor
