Some new juicy info on Ork weapons: 3. How will the Shoota compare to the boltgun in terms of design? Will it be considered the all-rounder of the Ork arsenal or fulfill a more narrow purpose like the Dire Avenger's shuriken catapult? BRENT: It’s in-between because we’re going to put more emphasis and variety on the Sluggas compared to what you’ll see with the Bolt Pistols. The Shoota will be a good all-around weapon, but we want to see lots of Slugga boys on the battlefield so you may prefer one of those at closer ranges (combined with a choppa of course). http://forum.eternalcrusade.com/threads/q-a-answers-compilation-thread.32349/page-4#post-977295
Its an energy based, Anti-armour, Long range, slow-reload, killy weapon, thats usually a shade of red in colour. Its as close as youre gonna get with Orks, mate.
I'm not sure. I figure it performs like the lascannon. For DoW2 at least, it fired the same as a lascannon and did more damage but didn't have the slow effect applied. Maybe it fired more slowly too but I never noticed. Maybe orks could figure out a way to make it fire faster but the power of each beam would be weaker to prevent overheating making the weapon explode. Also in terms of gameplay for balance reasons. Of course land all the hits and it should do significant damage. It's a matter of would orks do that and why would Devs do it for EC.
now i have a mental image of an ork in front of his slugga collection that can't decide what use, he browse whaagazon.com/slugga for buy a new slugga to use with the new choppa
Orks have been known to use different ammo in books. I Rynn's world a single nob shreds something like 5 SM instantly because he was usning"armour piercing" rounds. That could just mean he had one massively powered gun or maybe it was actual looted ammo like possibly a looted heavy bolter strapped to his arm dunno. Also a way orks could stand out more is the fact that they can use almost anything as a weapon in melee. Give em the ability to gun butt people for more damage than other factions doing the same move. I mean do you honestly think an eldar hitting someone with the stock of their rifle is gonna have anywhere near the force that an ork would with his blocky stub pistol?
Las cannons just seem awy to...unorky. They aren't loud, they don't fire fast, they don't make a big BOOM even when you miss...Also they're precision weapons. "Precision weapon" and "orky" are like, antonyms.
Orks can make it loud, flashy and bright then if they destroy something with it that's a boom. Effective is effective. But until we hear of it & see it then one can assume beamy deffguns aren't in EC, I want one though. For what we do know though (again if description is true): Zzap gun: "An extremely powerful weapon, the Zzap gun serves a role not dissimilar to an Imperial Lascannon in that it fires concentrated beams of energy effective against vehicles. Although powerful, this weapon suffers from the common maladies of all Ork weapons and as such can vary to have such devastating power that it is stronger than anything in the Imperium, but some unlucky shots won't be strong enough to even scratch enemy armour." - @Lexicanum. Sounds like a lascannon just electricity beam & has a chance to suck. But lexicanum also says it's powered by grots & usually mounted on a vehicle or as a big gun using 2 wheels cannon-style. Chance of unlucky shots sounds frustrating for EC. Ah okay. The stronger bash wouldn't hold up for classes aside from heavy weapons users for the same reason bayonets aren't currently planned to have a function: they have combat knives & can switch to them quickly (see Question 6 here). Orks actually seem to have fist weapons as combat knife equivalents. Evident by one of the timed exclusive "thanks for being Founders" bronze items - Ork Combat Puncha & Stubby Shoota that looks like a piece of bronze armor on the back of the hand with sharp teeth looking bits on the punchy end.
Be fun if i had the option on ork to toggle secondary animation. Spike fist for option one, and pistol wipe for option 2. Both would still use the same key on my keyboard for activation, but this would just be a minor thing. Won't make or break the game for me. Either way i still get to bash da humies.
