Ork Sniping

  1. ya thats true

orks could have a sack of stikkbombs instead which will be used as a mainweapon

imagine you take a stikkbomb in each hand and throw them all around you and wait for da big booom ^^
    could be lots of fun

  3. Ork sniper rifld = basic bolter with 10 barrels attached to eachother, for those long range fights

  4. The problem is snipers give a long range advantage, that is just a fact.

with HUGE battlefields people will want ways of killing people right now, from far away, and so most likely every other race else will have sniper rifles, and orks need something to fill that void. The least game-breaking, potentially trouble causing way to to just give them sniper rifles, and saying that sucks and it shouldnt be on orks without an answer to enemy snipers isnt helping at all. And if the devs decided snipers dont fit the feel of the game that's fine to, but i doubt they're going to do that. and thats the point of this thread is to find an answer.

You understand the ork mind don't cha?

Ork sniping is an oxymoron if I've ever heard one. Unless you're talking in relation to someone in the process of doing some Ork sniping. Orks are hardly the most accurate creatures in the galaxy, and are certainly not a species that springs to mind as one who would appreciate the whole nuance of sniping important enemy's.

As such, I don't really think there should be 'Ork Snipers'. They don't need em imo
  7. Closest things those green gits have to snipers would be lootas in my opinion, simply because of the range of their guns and how often they're behind cover (in regards to TT mind you).

Sniper would be a silly way to describe them though.. The ludicrous amount of shots being farted out by them ..

I think instead of snipers, a muh slower shooting deffgun with a higher power and bovs very innacurate would suffice for a "sniping" role.
But that would just be a beamy deffgun right?

  8. See, I don't know that it's going to be that much of an advantage in most fights against us Greenies, though. I think snipers will be as annoying as in any other game, but I don't think they'll be especially effective except when there are very few Orks around. As a fan who intends to play an Ork almost exclusively, I'd be far more concerned about heavy bolter/dark reaper nests than snipers, and even then, there are Stormboyz for that.

I am doubtful that even a squad of snipers will be as consistently effective against us than really any weapon with either a higher fire-rate or some manner of AoE. I honestly don't think it will make that much of a difference unless most of an Ork force's effectiveness stems directly from some manner of buff rather than the ability of the collective players that make up the force itself, wherein eliminating a few specific, readily-identifiable Orkz is key to defeating the force as a whole.

I imagine snipers would perform best in teams who can quickly focus on and kill important units like heroes or support classes who are providing AoE buffs to their team. It remains to be seen whether going without this long-range capability will make a huge difference on the battlefield. As others have said, there are ways of efficiently killing such targets without the use of long-range weaponry. Squads of airborne assaults or otherwise highly mobile infantry with single-target weaponry or melee can fill the same role in a far more agreeable manner than people sitting in bushes half the map away. In addition, they may still be more effective overall, as they haven't traded all their offensive capability for one potentially slow, heavy, single-target gun which means they're boned if anyone gets within medium-short range.

I wouldn't mind seeing snipers as Eldar weapons, but I think Orks of all races should be the least likely to get them. The only Orky sniper-like weapon I can think of is something like a squig launcher - slow projectile speed with arced fire, with damage increasing as the projectile travels further, but still quite difficult to aim properly at long ranges. More of a joke weapon than anything, but I think I'd love to see an orc 'sniper' squad raining squigs down on an enemy fortified position.

I don't think snipers will be all that prevalent anyway. I'm sure there'll be more than a couple of Rangers running around (if that's even a playable class, as I can't remember if they are or not), but I wouldn't really say the Stalker is going to fulfil the role of sniper anyway (may be wrong though, but since players can't be scouts...)

At the end of the day though, I don't think every class needs to have a counter-class that does the exact same thing anyway. Afterall, the Eldar don't have an assault melee jump trooper iirc.
