The various hundreds if not thousands of corpse now certainly made their rise back to the realm of the living. Across the entire ship they started to rise. The slaves on the 'trolley' remained 'asleep', so it could be not said if they were just not awaken undead or actual living. SA582 looked around with scanners working on full attention. "We should make for our escape or make a stand to allow Davarus squad to fall back with safety. At least two hundred enemies are on my radar in the proximity of fifty meters, coming from all sides." OOC: Am I correct by assuming this?: Team Loki + Team Phoebus - half way hangar; half way haemonculus lab; half way hangar: SA582, Loki, Phoebus, Ry'thss, Robertus, Se'reth Team Davarus + Team Cha'ka - in front of bridge: Davarus, Joseph (unconscious), Drax, Virgil, Bear, Zeth, Selina, Cha'ka
OOC Yes you are! "GAH!" Loki cursed, the numbers he swore during this mission beyond counting now. "So it's either die running or die making a heroic stand?! I love those choices, really do! What do you say Lamenter, fight or flight?"
"I would propose a third course of action. We investigate the missing K.A.T. unit, while continuing to hold this position. Reinforcements can meet us at the helm of the vessel for evac. Whatever the K.A.T. found, artifacts or this Corsair, it is more productive than waiting. Davarus' team would be overwhelmed without our support. They may be many, but this enemy is by far the lowest of opponents. Even our noncombat squad members should be able to take them down... Just don't get surrounded or lose suit integrity." Phoebes said his mind, he really wanted that K.A.T. Unit back. It had many stories behind it. "Are you familiar with the Corsair my comrades and I seek?"
The fuzzy xenos cat immediately did what all cats do when faced with a box: jumped right in. This was all right, though Debbie took a moment to evict Fric temporarily and install one towel folded on the bottom first, so that he had something softer to lie on. Then she draped the other loosely over the top, folded neatly but providing a sort of roof and door. So far so good. She improvised a water dish with a nice glass vessel normally used for holding organs during surgical work of both kinds, slightly too chipped to be used for that any more but perfectly good for this. And sterile, too. Waste not, want not. Finally she opened up the relevant part of the fish protein MRE and laid it out next to the water. All basic catwants taken care of. She hoped, somewhere in the back of her mind, that he was housetrained, but Fric seemed very intelligent so he ought to manage it. With this done, and her small amount of personal belongings stowed in the adjacent sleeping quarters, she settled down at a terminal and began to pull up records of what information she could on the plague of which Inquisitor Bishop had spoken. Images and data scrolled past her eyes. She got Jethro to read along with her, the cheery hum of the diagnosticator making a familiar background noise, along with a soft whirring coming from Fric. She glanced down. The furry beastie seemed unaware of the sound, so it wasn't some kind of fault or problem. Probably whatever violet space cats did to purr. Data flashed past, and she rubbed her eyes, rising to get a drink. As she returned to the screen one thing became clear as she sipped her recaf and nibbled on - turning the package over in her hands, apparently "grain based crisp products suitable for long term field storage with salts of essential food elements". Quite tasty, these GBCPSFLTSWSEFEs. The data showed that whatever the infection was, aided by the Ruinous Powers, it was indeed extremely durable, affecting sentient biological organisms beyond death. The Chirurgeon frowned, and began tapping out data ... [OOC #1: Fric is adorable. OOC #2: Did Zeth say he was away for a while? I haven't seen our MechAdept since he got his new tenta- er mechandenrite pack.]
"I used to watch a holo-vid with those K.A.T. units where....ahh never mind. Alright, lets find your missing robot thingies, I sincerely hope they are worth the effort!"
OOC: The mere fact Loki mentioned it makes me think of KAT porn. IC: "I know I wasn't asked", Ry began over vox, her voice calmed and thoughtful, though the exhausted excitement broke through at times, "...but I'd say leave the KAT, even with the sentimental value, and make a strategic retreat. This kind of operation is usually undertaken by Astartes, and even they take casualties, or so the records go." She took care not to mention Tactical Dreadnought Armour or people dying on Space Hulks, since Astartes tended to frown upon people having read about their chapter secrets. "Let's regroup and return, full force, with more gun."
