Chill man, no need for such emotions. I was just trying to understand the devs decisions, I'm not saying this is bad or good. If the community will not like it, probably it will be changed. Nothing is set in stone yet, and definitely not such things. They will be tested hundred times in alpha\beta and change many, many times, not only in eldar factuion but others as well. And yeah, war is not balanced that's why we have asymetrical balance in EC which doesn't change the fact that this is not real war but a computer game and SOME KIND OF BALANCE will always be neccessary.

This is not WoW, devs stated at the start of this project that they don't care about balance. What you're doing right now is defending against someone who is complaining that the lore breaking is making a class more powerful. In which case, no offence, but I don't actually care that you want to be challenged when fighting against every aspect. That challenge will come from superior tactical decisions and overall gameplay, not a bullet-deflecting shield.

They NEVER stated anything like that.

Yes, this is not WoW. But like WoW, EC has to be fun. I don't know or pretend to know, if it is game breaking or helpful for banshees to have a shield. But thats not my point.

The game has to be fun to stay 'alive'. even those, who treasure lore will loose, when the game flops.

Edit: We don't even know the exact context, in which brent was talking about!

I am pretty calm, just saying that arguing against that is pretty useless as other factors that don't break either the game or the lore could be taken into consideration. I'm fine with being challenged, that's why I chose to sign up with the Eldar when I have things I like in every faction regardless of the fact that we won't have the superior numbers of the other races.

I understand your stand point, in my view also SPEED should be the biggest Eldar advantage (especially while talking about Banshhes) but I'm afraid speed alone will not be enough and it may be so that after all it will be Eldar players who will cry out loud to buff Banshees more as they won't be able to even close the gap in melee.

I have to say the Eldar lineup is intriguing and is making me a lot more interested in playing as them

Great information, lots of fore thought before presenting to, you answered some important questions straight off the bat and have been coming back to answer more. I will add some thoughts, because I like my ideas like I like my children, thrown wildly around the room.
    - All the 'we need a this class' and the 'where is the other class I wanted' talk gotta stop. Remember this is just the bare bones basic classes that will so definitely be in there they might as well put us out of a little bit of our misery. Of course there will be more classes, and not just hero and special, but standard classes. bE is transparent, but they like leaving a couple of surprises for us too.
    - some people have skipped a few pages, and that is fine, but Brent has specifically said that the Ork 'classes' are extreeeeemmmmeeely general, and will likely have even more flexibility than SM, due to their ability to just....have weapons. So don't think the only melee unit is the stormboy, the comparison he did was the other races was light-heavy-melee, image the ork classes being light (dakka or choppa) heavy (dakka or choppa) and choppa (choppa dakka) I can already imagine myself and a friend both picking basic heavy loota, but one going down a 'Ard boy tech tree and the other going down a flash gitz tech tree and ending up at different places.
    - I want to get angry about the people opining the lack of chapter specific labels about the SM characters, but then I remember not all of you wiper snappers have been hanging around in the background as long as the rest of us (while I can't claim Active Member status, I have been following this game since the forums opened). It was confirmed right at the beginning when we first started questioning that each chapter would have their own flavour of what the generic title for that character type was. The Vlka Fenryka would have their Iron Priests, Wolf Priests, Long Fangs etc, the Blood Angels would have their Sanguinary Priests and the like. This list was just to give us the basics.
    - I see IG popping up again and I will say again what I said the last time the Astra Militarum poked their heads up asking for an invitation to the party: I don't think this game will be built for IG, and I think shoe horning them in is a bad idea. Much better to create a separate game where IG get their glory, through an FPS would be my suggestion. Heck, all the current FPS franchises have started hitting the futuristic warfare, a Gaunts Ghosts game that puts you in the drivers seat of a no name character in the background of all the major campaigns would be bEautiful.
    - Final point....um I don't have one I am tired but.....Good to see when I choose to have a character in each faction I will have some solid choices.

Yes, but that change is geared towards protecting them from ranged fire, not helping them get into melee faster.

Didn't Brent say something in one of his posts about melee classes having to lure others towards them?

It'll help them get into melee without being shot to pieces beforehand.
