Why can't we have Obliterators and the get centurions? seems like both can have terminators but the next step up can differ. Or who says it has to be next step up and not more of a sideways progression?
Hmmm, yes. Like as in "we both have Dreadnoughts but the Loyalist Pigs have Ironclads and we have Helbrutes"? Centurions look more like a sideways progression to me (they have dreadnought feet and all), looking somewhat akin to a mini-dreadnought - just as the Tartoros pattern Terminator looks more to something akin to a mini-comtemptor dreadnought.
Obliterators/Mutilators would be an awesome choice, if the game ever gets to the point where we have something even MORE elite, than Terminators. But they are far too strong and flexible to be a counterpart of a simple loyalist Terminator! Better not have them at all, than seeing them disgraced like that!
Sorry to pour cold water over you guys but people did ask about obliterators very early on and they are a confirmed no on launch. If SM do get normal terminators you will get chaos terminators.
It would be awesome to see an Obliterator Squad(Cult) on the battlefield. Though I think they are going to focus on the main 4: Terminators, Raptors, Chosen(Tactical & Havoc) and Sorcerers. I think if they do bring out additional classes it won't be until for foreseeable future. Classes like the Obliterators and Possessed or perhaps the Noise Marines, Rune Marines, Plague Marines and Khorne Berserkers may not appear for sometime. Same can be said for the other races. Like the Centurions, Land Speeders, Whirlwinds and so on. These may all be on the back burner for now, until the time is right for them to be released. I personally foresee the Noise/Rune/Plague and Khorne marines as armor skins from the Rouge Trader store.
I just love the concept of obliterators. But with how they work in lore and such, maybe they should be a hero unit? I dunno. Something like that. Having unlimited ammo, and the ability to cycle through any weapon type
There's at least one canonical example of an unaugmented human contracting the obliterator virus. Also in Storm of Iron the IW give the virus to a tech-priest, and one of their ships is heavily implied to be a Tyranid hive-ship that was infected and converted.
Centurions? XD LSM inside of LSM. Perhaps they can then pilot a Grey Exo Knight? Who can then climb inside a Warhound class titan? ROFLMAO Wait wait, will i get a kill for each LSM they have in this Russian nesting doll configuration? XD
